I once read in a book that when are prophet pbuh was named mohammed, the quraishi leaders that came for a feast in abdul mutthalib's house, exclaimed that no one usually names their children mohammed, n that it is a very rare name.
N to that Abdul mutthalib replied " I wish my grandson to attain sucess and fame, n that is why i named him mohammed"

The name mohammed means "the most respected and most sucessful" according to this book.
