It doesn't take a genuis to figure the nature of Muhammad PBUH based on the information we have about him. It's pretty easy to judge the sincerity of someone who was offered to become king of makkah amongst many other things and yet he rejected all that in return for going through endless hardship and trouble for hte sake of his message.

And even when he became established in Madinah, he had the opportunity to be honoured material-wise, yet he even kindly putdown the offer of Umar to have a decent house built for him when the effects of the straw mat he sat on was seen by Umar.

I don't know... but if we can't judge someone's virtue and sincerity just by those two (of many) examples... then there's something wrong with our minds.

Having said that... ofcourse if non Muslims knew Muhammad doesnt imply they'd convert... the non Muslims of Quraysh knew very well his quality and traits, did that make them convert? nope. Same goes for non Muslims of today... at the end fo the day, regardless hwo good the message is, people will reject it when it clashes with their personal interests. As if a multi billionare thriving from interest is going to give up his source of income and power n status for sake of Islam.... ofcourse.. except those whom Allah has guided. - n same could be said for simpletons too-
