The advice of a Salaaf:

أخي لن تنال العلم إلا بستةٍ سأنبئك عن تفصيلها ببيان

ذكاءٌ وحرصٌ واجتهادٌ وبلغةٌ وصحبة أستاذٍ وطول زمانِ

Meaning:

"Brother, you will not gain knowledge except with six (conditions). I'll tell you about them in details:

Intellect, eagerness, perseverence, affluence, the company of a Teacher, and a long time."
