I don't mean to come across as abrasive.. my experience is/was, so few non-muslims come here to actually learn... not being able to see tone of voice, or body language..I rely on the context of what is written, which can be quite an innocent question and I sometimes I understand it as an accusation than a simple query...
I was still in the process of looking for a scholarly reply to you, and have found one, but it is in Arabic.. I unfortunately don't have the time to translate it.. I can leave it here for one of the other Arabic memebrs to take a stab at it if they have the time
