I was curious on the rankings of major religions and these are what I came across so I thought I'd share it. I searched on loads of different websites so I don't have any source because I would have to put too many of them.

So, the number of muslims increased by 200,000,000 in one year while none of the others changed at all?!

regardless of the fact that i find such stats utterly useless..i will post here.

i was at a sheikh yusuf estes lecture last friday..or was it the friday before that?...i dno..either way, he spoke abt the increasing number of muslims..and that for the first time, this year or something, the number of muslims had gone over the number of christians..

this means nothing to me..but its probably true, he wasnt trying to promote anything..

i dno abt ur stats bro..plenty of stuff like this are posted here and there..i mean, if i did a google search, ur post mite even come up...and such things are hard to keep track of. i dno...

Even though the numbers look nice... i quite hate to point out that...even though muslims number 21% of the world population, its shameful to think that not 100% of that 21% are muslims in practice.

I think this is a top point. I still find the term 'non-practising' Muslim ridiculous to some extent in the sense that just being Muslim by name is not good enough. This is a wake up reminder for the Muslims.

These charts don't mean anything and it's just information I wanted to share. The one for 2008 was the only one I could find.

I didn't find them in one place, each of them were from different websites. I was trying not to be biased but I couldn't find much other then what I've put here.

I'm a bit suprised that the "nones" are 3rd. That certainly wasn't so even a few decades ago and certainly not a century ago. Looks like religion really is starting to subside. Gives me hope for humanity.

Really? Do you have any figures on reversions? In Europe clearly more people have reverted to a disbelieving state, the way they were born ;).

Btw, the first picture/table is really hilarious, hehe. I can't imagine somebody typed that out with a straight face.

the increasing numbers of muslim, especially in western country, is very interesting...

but, dont forget, many christian in muslim country like in south east asia and africa try to 'guide' people to christianity ... especially the poor..

it's the fact in indonesia, it's every day battle between the imam and the pastor.

ATTITUDE STATEMENT OF INDONESIA CHILDREN PROTECTION COMMISSION

Learning from daily newspaper Republika on 14th January 2005 entitling "USA Missionary Brings 300 Acehnese Kids" which excerptibled from The Washington Post, 13rd January 2005, explained that Worldhelp group had brought around 300 moslem children from Banda Aceh to Jakarta to be placed in Christian family in order to christianitation process in Indonesia. Referring to that, Indonesia Children Protection Commission (KPAI) as state institute observing management of children protection in Indonesia, herewith express attitude.

VERY CONCERNED AND CURSE THOSE ACTION

For that, we requested government, in this case state government officer, immediately check the truth of the news and act its perpetrator pursuant to law especially Section 86 and Section 90 of Law Number 23/2002 about Children Protection.

KPAI since the beginning already made statement in the form of press release on 3rd January 2005 that the handling of tsunami victim children in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) and North Sumatera as the following :

1. Tsunami victim children in Aceh and North Sumatera are forbidden to be brought exit NAD and North Sumatera.

2. Tsunami victim children in Aceh and North Sumatera may not adopt by whoever because still enabled for the reunification with separated family.

3. Nurturing in Aceh or brought exit Aceh only enabled for closest family either due to marriage or cognation.

4. All tsunami victim children in NAD and North Sumatera must get clear and accurate data so can be easy in trace process.

KPAI is very supporting the step which done by other sides so this sensitive problem can be explained to public so do not generate suspicion which can separate the unity and association of Indonesian nation.

We made this statement in order to become attention for all interest sides.
