Default Prophecy - 07-13-2007

Hey all,

I'm fairly new to my exploration of Islam, and am very interested. I began my religious seeking in Christianity and Judaism, and now find myself aproaching Islam. One thing that might help me in my belief is direction to a site or a book that lists Muhammad's recorded prophecies that have been fulfilled (that includes Quran/Hadith sources!!), since I reference Deuteronomy 18 which illustrates true and false prophecy.

Can anyone here help me in the right direction?

Thanks for the links.

Some of those are compelling finds.

The big problem that I run into when dealing with the passage in Deuteronomy 18 has to do with the name of God. The Hebrew bible shows that God has a distinct name (the tetragrammaton (translated LORD) which is dissimilar to the word Allah. The word Allah to me seems very closely related to the Hebrew word Eloah (plural elohim), which is the 'title' God, but doesn't translate as 'the name', for in the Bible it can be used in reference to an idol or a false god too. Why does the Quran not use the proper name, or have I missed something?

Peace to you too.

Thanks.

Some of those are very intriguing.

One question that I have that keeps me from moving forward into things such as prayer, is in regards to the fact that I haven't found the Quran to use the Creator's name as given in the Hebrew Bible. I understand that Allah translates as God, just as Eloah (Elohim) does from the Hebrew; I can equate those words easily. But the tetragrammaton used in the Torah, seems rather important to me to acknowledge, as it is His name, and I don't see it in the Quran.

Any thoughts on that?

Thanks,

Lewis
