In the countries with the most strickt and purest islamic law, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan under taleban, women couldnt go outside home without husband's permission, they couldnt drive cars there or study.Note that most of women who convert to islam, do it to marry a muslim man, and they mostly stay in western countries, so they can stilluse the freedom and rights that those countries give them.When husband takes the wife to muslim country, it often happens that the marriage is broken, because the wife must obey they rules and burdens that she wasnt aware of.I know many examples of this from my country.

these countries do not uphold purest Islamic law although they are strict from the cultural perspective.

I agree with you that there is a lot of western women as you say and FACTS say they become Muslims to marry Muslim Men whom they fall in love with, and this also proof how Muslim men generally treat their women (thanks), but those women are three categories to be FAIR enough:

1- Most of them become Muslims because they are convinced of that!
2- A lot of them Become Muslim but their faith is not strong
3- Some just embrace Islam to get Married from whom they love but at least they live Islamic way!

But I don’t agree with you concerning my thread as I were talking about women who choose to Revert to Islam by themselves without knowing any Muslim men, and they are a lot, not only from Muslim and non Muslim reports but because personally I knew a lot of them and to be specific in Russia and Ukraine and America!

Statistics say that one of Higher rate of violence of Husbands towards their wives is in America, did you know that!?

Do you know why are such results in west!?

you are missing out that many women are persuaded,pressured and sometimes even forced.

Too many times people make out like its the western people doing wrong,converting because they are in love and want to marry,etc and the wrong on the side of th muslim person goes un-noticed.

I saw an interesting program very recently about Sharia law and whether British Muslims would like to see that introduced in the UK. The investigator, a British Muslim woman, spent time in Nigeria to see how the law was applied and upheld there and what locals thought of it. She was actually dismayed at how the women were treated under this legal system. For instance, A woman’s testimony is not considered valid in adultery cases (except where rape is involved).

The ‘judge’ in the Nigerian Sharia court even condemned the reporter for not wearing a headscarf and for shaking the hand of another man.
The judge, himself a very devout Muslim, would certainly have disagreed if you accused him of not upholding the “purest of Islamic law”. Every ruling he made was with reference to and in accordance with the rules stipulated by the Quran.

It’s easy to say such things when you happen to live in a society whose laws are not governed entirely by religious doctrine isn’t it?

Agree with you, and also happens that some of those women feel that they are pressured although their husbands dont pressure but just ask or explain them things related to Islam but they feel that they are pressured!

Draco if we begin to take individual stories and bring them here we will not finish, Islam is religion for the benefit of majority of humans, actually it make balance between personal freedom and majority protection!

By the way there is Hijab also for men, it is not only for women!

fact is that those who talk about freedom and especialy freedom of women they dont have what they talk about!

And bringing examples of Poor countries like Nigeria or Afganistan that is faught since in apeard and economicaly faught and surrounded by the whole world is not fair!

I'm not sure I understand the point you are trying to make. I'll respond to the bits I can understand.

I have never seen a man wearing a hijab. Let's not try and make claims that really aren't true in practice. You know as well as anyone that men do not wear it, whether they're supposed to or not. In anycase, why should your women need protecting? Shouldn't Islam teach respect for women? Why is it necessary for them to wear protective clothing just to protect them from lustful men who cannot master self control?

What baffles me most is the Muslim women who actually feel happy to wear the hijab. It's oppressive.

Perhaps you do not know the difference between a hijab and a niqaab? the Head ware typically worn in Saudi, Palestine and other countries is very similar to a Hijab. As far as the niqaab(face veil) goes it is commonly worn among the Taureg men of North Africa.

Yes, we are taught respect for women. The Hijab is a physical reminder of the respect we have for women. To use an analogy if you had a billion dollars in gold would you keep it in a bank vault or on a table in your front yard? Shouldn't you trust the will power of your neighbors to leave it alone. Any woman is worth many times a billion dollars, why should a billion dollars be treated with more respect than a woman?

A woman is proud and happy to wear a hijab, because she knows she is doing it for Allaah(swt) No man has the right to force a woman to wear it.

Hijab is more then Just wearing some kind of cloths, see cloths are just part from Hijab!

It is well know that what you wear SHOWS your personality, Muslims (MEN/WOMEN) should were cloths that when someone see them say they are, MUSLIMS and DECENT and RESPECTABLE people, thats why as well as women have to wear some cloths and cover herself, ISLAM says what men should wear and cover themselves also, like for example you cannot pray wearing SHORTS!

If you go to any western (supposed free) country and you walk in streets with your girl friend in very hot day, then you both take of your cloths and walk only with shorts and your chests are naked (man equal to woman) then believe be the police will come to you both and they will arrest HER and not you!

Simply this because MEN are Different then WOMEN thats why their cloths are different and Hijab are different!

So as you see Men and women in ISLAM are equal concerning HIJAB which again means more then only cloths!

And really I dont understand what is the problem if women want to wear Hijab, so that when people see her say this is MUSLIM and DECENT women, not only that she will be treated differently, for example you will not be able to call her names like in (supposed free) countries use words like CHICKS for example, you will not tell her lets go to my home to have some beer etc...!

See there is difference between two women or girls who wake up in the morning:

One chose her closes so that she look decent and respectable and men dont look at her outside beauty!

And Another who wear cloths so that she attract as mush as she can eyes of men etc.... !

Why dont you sleep with your doors unlocked and wide open then? Why dont you leave your car unlocked? Why dont you just leave your wallet lying around?

Islam DOES teach respect for women, but that doesnt mean that every male is a Muslim (and therefore wont follow Islamic teachings) and not all Muslims follow the Islamic legislation!

What? Women in Saudi ARE allowed to study! Where on earth are you getting your facts form? As for driving in Saudi, it is a ruling that they made that suites their culture and society, it is not an Islamic ruling.

A lot of revertion has happened in USA, and for once im a American revert Alhmdulilah. Im proud of it.. But majority of reverts in USA do get punished for reverting (speaking from my own personal)..
