Default Mathematics Long Division without Calculator - 07-02-2008

How would I do this problem without a calculator 872/210,152? I forgot how to do these problems since I never used the method since grade 5.

OK here we go, if you don't understand it I'll try and explain things to you another time as I'm in a bit of a rush at the moment. It's hard to explain things like these over the Internet, much easier in real life. Hopefully it'll all come back to you. And as a note, once you've added your first 0 put a decimal point in the answer. And also, put any whole number remainders on top of the number your dividing by and then you've got a new number. E.g. remainder of 8 going ontop of the number two now becomes 82, so x/82 it becomes.

Sorry. I've felt like I've explained this really badly - but I've tried.

I found an easier way.

1x 872/210,152

2x 1744 210 ,152 - 174400 = 35752 200

4x 3488 35752-34880 = 872 40

8x 6976 872- 872 = 0 + 1
Answer = 241

Thank you everyone for helping me out.
