what about using the voice of nature? so that could include the wind, water/rain, thunder, the voice of birds, or even some permissible nasheeds?

The recitor's name is Sa'ad al Ghamdi.

You should also check this link out too:
http://www.sabbir.com/DownloadHalal.html

It's got recitations and then after each verse, he give's the translation in english.

This is also similar:
http://www.islamicboard.com/islamic-...anslation.html (Sa'ad al Ghamdi Recitations with English Audio Translation.)

When you play the recitation of Qur'an - it can be something which might describe the character of Saladin. for example, you could play the following verse, and on the presentation - give it's translation:

Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith Fight in the cause of Evil: So fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan. (Qur'an 4:76)

Allaah Almighty knows best.
