Default Three Parts Of Ramadan - 09-18-2007

I read a hadith that Ramadan is divided into three parts which are: the first 10 days brings Allah's mercy, the next 10 bring Allah's (swt) forgiveness, and the last 10 days bring emancipation from the fire of Hell...I also read that there are three dua's which could be read during each 10 days...does anyone know them?....

Wa alaykum as salaam,

That hadith is Dha'eef, weak, Munkar(1) to be precise. It was reported by Al-'Uqaylee & Ibn 'Adiyy and in their sanad (chain of narrators) are two Raawiys (narrators). One of them is Munkar Al-Hadeeth, and the other is Matruuk(2).

____________________

(1)Munkar (Denounced): It is hadith reported by a weak reporter and happens to go against another narration. Sometimes, a hadith may be denounced because it goes against or is contrary to general sayings of Prophet (Salallaahu 'alayhi wasallam).

(2) Matruuk (Disregarded). A person who's Matruuk is a narrator whose weakness scholars have unanimously agreed.

Wallaahu a'lam, hope that helped inshaAllaah.

Na'am, you're right Amirah:

Hadith munkar
"The begininng of the month of ramadan is mercy, its middle period is forgiveness, and its closing period release from hellfire."

The following have traced this hadith: Uqayli in his Ad Duafa, Ibn Adiyy, Khatib in his Al Mawaddah, Daylami, Ibn Asakir, all of them through Salam ibn Miswar, Maslamah ibn As Salt, Zuhri, Abu Salamah and finally Abu Hurayra.
Ibn Adiyy said: "Salam is not trustworthy and Maslamah is unknown. Dhahabi has the same opinion. Abu Hatims opinion of Maslamah is no better.
(From Sheikh Al Albaani's Silsala Ahadith ad Daifa wal Mawdua wa Athruha as Sayyi fil Umma)

you guys talking about this haditH:

Quote:
It is related that our Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam) said concerning Ramadan, “Its beginning is mercy, its middle is forgiveness, and its ending is liberation from the Hellfire.” (Ibn Khuzaymah Vol. 3, Hadith 191).

Wa 'alaykum as salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

Jazaakillaah khair for the confirmation, and also for coming up with the names of the 'ilall (defects) or Ad-Du'afaa' (the weak ones).
