Default Ruqyaa by the one who is not proficient with the Qur'aan - 01-07-2008

Ruqyaa by the one who is not proficient with the Qur'aan

Al-Allaamah Rabee' al-Madkhalee

Question :
The one who has not perfected the recitation of the Quraan , is it permissible for him to perform ruqyaa [1] ?

Answer :
It is permissible for him to perform ruqyaa ; if he is forced (by necessity) to that.

But he must know :
{ The one (who is) proficient in (recitation of) the Qur'aan is with the honourable, noble angels. And the one who recites the Qur'aan and stammers whilst finding it difficult upon him, has two rewards} [2] .

Meaning he is rewarded even if he stammers in its recitation.

And if he is not able to perfect (his recitation of the) Qur'aan, let him recite and strive to perfect his recitation.

Shaykh Rabee' al-Madkhalee

Footnotes:
[1] Ruqyaa: Healing through reciting words from the Qur'aan and/or supplications from the authentic Sunnah.
[2] Saheeh Muslim (No. 1329) and Ibn Maajah (No. 3679)
