Asalamu Alaykum,

I'd like to learn the 99 names of Allah swt and guess what, you're all going to help me accomplish this goal (erm, inshaAllah? ).

See, I know I don't have the will to learn them all in one go, so I've had an idea, the success of which will be determined by you, the members of this Islamic forum. [Just don't let me down ]

The idea is as follows: I post one name of Allah swt in Arabic, along with its meaning in English, like every three days in this thread, and all members who wish to learn alongside, can do so by adding the same to their sigs.

That way inshaAllah, depending on the number of participants, everywhere I look on the forum, with each new post that's made, I'd see one of Allah swt's beautiful names staring me in the face. What I'm hoping is, if I see a name often enough, it'd be cause for me to retain it in my memory. After three days, we all add the next name of Allah swt and inshaAllah after several months, we would have learnt all the names along with their meanings.

Even if you already, mashaAllah, know them all, I'd still urge you to participate in the effort as it would be of great help to others, inshaAllah.

Think of the barakah that will flow through the community of LI by having many of the members reciting the beautiful and powerful names of Allah swt on a daily basis!

Top Idea Masha'Allaah. Added to sig Br. IbnAbdulHakim provided the Hadith about the benefits of this a while ago:

Allah Ta’ala has 100 names but one (i.e 99) whosoever memorizes them will enter Jannah.

Ar-Raheem - The most Merciful

Bro - the idea is that, you and all other members put the current name - which is 'Ar-Rahman', along with its meaning into your sigs for say, 3 days, and after that we add the next name. That way, slowly but surely, we get through all the names, inshaAllah.

I've been trying, and so far have learned 80.. But i kinda get mixed up after reciting 60

All members who wish to learn the 99 names should place the current name(s) with meaning, (which can be found in my sig) into their sigs too. Then after say three days, we change our sigs to include the next name/meaning...

That way - if many people participate, we'd see the current name almost everywhere on the board, so it'd kind of inshaAllah, register in our subconscious allowing us to remember it better.

i already know ar-rahmaan, shouldnt we jump onto one we dont know

lol, I was thinking we could make it a joint thing for all members to participate in, where we all stick with the same name for a couple of days and then we change it to the next...even if you already know the current name, keep it the same as everybody else so that the members who don't know are likely to remember it too inshaAllah. Make sense?

What if you put up the names 5 at a time,and then link it on to the next 5, and so on, maybe not every day, but every week? then it'll be easy to remember, coz our memory works with bite sized pieces, if you get me and if you do that as you go along, Insha'allah should be able to memorise it maybe within two months! ( Hope I'm making sense..)

Good suggestion, the only problem I can see with putting 5 names is, it might not fit in our signature spaces?
