Default is this hadith sahih (authentic) - 08-17-2007

"one who does not plan (intend) to fast during the night, there is no fast for him." (at-tirmithi)
i cannot post it up in Arabic, and i don't have the isnadd (chain of narration) of it, so im not sure if the english by itself will help, but i found it in minhaaj ul-muslim vol 2, by Abu Bakr Jabir Al-Jaza'iry, if thats of any help.

jazakallahu khair.

It reads fine as it is.

The sister is asking whether the following hadith is authentic: "one who does not plan (intend) to fast during the night, there is no fast for him." (at-tirmithi)

She doesn't have the arabic text for it nor does she have the chain of narration however it can be found in a book called minhaaj ul-muslim vol 2, by Abu Bakr Jabir Al-Jaza'iry.

InshaAllah, somebody will be able to help you out sis.

This is a very similar Hadith..hope it helps Inshallah

Malik :: Book 18 : Hadith 18.2.5

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar used to say, "Only some one who makes the intention to fast before dawn (actually) fasts."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that A'isha and Hafsa, the wives of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, also said that.

Your intentions are well but you are asking the wrong people this question. You need to refer to the Ulema for this. Even if we knew the Isnaad we cannot derive it's authenticity as the character of those in the Isnaad is put to question etc You need to ask a Muhaddith this question;

As for the hadith scholar (al-muhaddith), he is the one who [1] knows the masters of hadith in his homeland as well as other lands; [2] has a precise knowledge of their date and place of birth and death, their ranking in the Sciences, and the various types of narratives they have in their possession; [3] differentiates those with longer chains of transmission from those with shorter ones; [4] is able to spot the hadith masters (al-huffâz) in the layers and the chains; [5] records them in writing; [6] recognizes the handwritings of the masters even if the same person's handwriting varies; [7] examines critically the narratives of the masters and extracts what he considers good from their narratives as well as his own, keeping aware of such qualities of chains as badal, muwâfaqât, musâwât, and the like (types of sound grades); [8] keeps a record of the names of his auditors even if their number is one thousand; [9] is an expert in the names of narrators, particularly those apt to be confused for one another, and obtains this discernment from the leaders in the discipline; [10] knows with precision the unusual words or names one comes across within the texts of hadith, or at least most of them, to avoid misspelling; [11] knows enough Arabic grammar to protect himself from language mistakes in most cases; [12] masters the terminology of experts in such way as is sufficient for teaching and explanation, and [13] keeps the proper terminology with respect to this and other disciplines.

If anyone in this forum fulfills the criteria for a Muhaddith given above you can ask them that question Insha'allah.

من لم يبيت الصيام من الليل فلا صيام له

im not asking anyone here to grade it for me as authentic or otherwise, but i thought that mnaybe it may sound familar to someone who has come accross it elewhere, where it has been graded as authentic.

oh yeah and another hadith that i need to know if it is authentic/sahih or not:
من استقاء عمدا فليقض (Abu Dawud and At-Tirmithi). found in the smae book as above.
