The important thing is to increase your knowledge about the religion and don't delay in becoming a Muslim (submitting yourself to God).
About going to the mosque it will benefit you to meet some brothers and tell them that you are interested in learning more. The best book to start is the Qur'an. The next step is to learn the Islamic beliefs (Aqeedah) and learn the basics of prayer. That should help you out a lot and don't be afraid to PM me or put your questions on the forum.
