Default repentance - 11-17-2007

Salaam,

Before I reveted I did a lot of wrong. I'm still in debt financially, left freinds, was disrespectful to my parents, and I led people astray through the music that I made. What does the Prophet (saws) say about converts mending ways and old mistakes, how about any examples of converts going back to fix mistakes? Or does a person just start anew and try not to mess up further?

Also, what's the difference between a doubter (having doubtful thoughts) and a disbeliever, according to sunnah? (I wish I knew arabic!)

Also, my parents are not believers. How, according to sunnah, does a non believer deal with disbelieving parents?

Ma Salaama.

Dear lewcow,
Thanks much for your good quesitons. I will try to take them one by one:

you should know that Islam cleans up all your previous mistakes. You are newly born.

Doubter and disbeliever: Doubter just have some doubts and may be unanswered questions. Islam is an open book. If you ask about anything, you will find a logic answer. No theocracy in Islam.

But disbeliever is the one who doesnt believe in Islam in the first place, whether he doesnt or doesnt want to understand it, or he knows it but doesnt want to believe in it!

As for your parents, Islam made it clear that we all MUST treat our parents not only in a good way but in the BESSSSSSSST way we could ever do.

Hope I could make things easy for you and dont feel hesitated to put any questions whatever

salam

mashaallah you as if your new born baby.
Hadith - Sahih Bukhari (#70) and Muslim

Hakim ibn Hizam said to the Prophet , "You know that in the days before Islam I used to maintain family ties, free slaves, and give charity. Will I be rewarded for any of those deeds?" The Prophet replied, "You accepted Islam with all the good you did in the past."
The Noble Qur'an - Al-Anfal 8:38
Say to those who have disbelieved, if they cease (from disbelief) their past will be forgiven. But if they return (thereto), then the examples of those (punished) before them have already preceded (as a warning).

remember us in your dua inshaallah
