to all my muslim people i have a question when reading the quran in duqsi or mosque or even when ur alone do u have to make ur voice u know like preety like. i think it's called tolcheed..or toqeeed.something like that...
i love it when people read it like that but i can't..... i just dont have that kind of voice.....

so wat am asking is, is it recomended that we make our voice sweet?:

Yes, we should try to beautify our voice as we can because there is hadith said for beautiful voice increases the Quran in beauty. But the care must be taken not to sing the Quran.

we shoud read with tajweed and tarteal(slow measured tone),,,,,,not singing as sis umm_maysa has said...but we should try making it sound nice/read beautifully but not go over the top......

what is singing the Quran?

(1) To read Al Quran with tajweed is Fardh 'Ain. (A Must for every muslim/muslimah. If you don't read with tajweed, it'll be a sin on you. To learn how to read it with tajweed then becomes compulsory)

(2) Not everyone is blessed with good voice or cute voice, your tajweed skills must precede your voice. Many people use their beautiful voice to read Al Quran and they compromise on its tajweed, eg; making certain sounds longer than is required, making qalqalah (a snap on the point of articulation of certain letters) on letters that do not have this quality and giving the nasal sounds to letters that don't have this quality.

(3) There are many kinds of voices that a person may have. Students of vocal science know this for a fact. To read Al Quran you must use your natural voice. You may not use whispering voice, or falsetto or employ different "colors" to your voice.

(4) Al Quran was revealed in Arabic. This is not to diss the non arabs but for many reasons. Hence the tone or rythm in reading Al Quran must conform to the diction and tone of the Arabic language. Many cultures have their own genre of tones and rythms. For example, you may not read AL Quran in the style of classical music or the tone of Latin Bolero.

(5) Your voice must not be made to sound sad. Many aimmah make this mistake. They make their voice sound sad so that the people can cry or they cry. We don't cry because of the voice. We cry because of the meaning of the sentence or verse being recited.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad sal Allaahu alayhi waSalam said, "Such a person as recites the Quran and masters it by heart, will be with the noble righteous scribes (in Heaven). And such a person exerts himself to learn the Quran by heart, and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward."

It is what it says, if one was to copy any famous singer or whatever, some people find it "cool" to rap the Quran, this is not allowed

On the contrary its prefered to cry, as long as your doing it for the sake of Allah and not so people will say, wow mashAllah he cries alot (ie showing off)

The prophet had said (au kama qaal), "not among us those who don't beautify Al quran with his voice".

It's sunnah mu'akkaddah (recommended sunnah) to read Al Quran with a melodius voice. This is being done by many qurra such as Husary, Muhammad Jibreel etc.

The issue comes in when we do not use our natural voice. For the male singers there is a level of his voice called falsetto (being used by some well known male soprano to mimick the ladies voice), which may not be used in reading Al quran. For the women, the falsetto is not very obvious but a woman's voice also have a whispering effect (where you excessively use the air to sing).

This is not allowed because sifaat is basically the amount of air that is released at the articulation point. Certain letters for example, the letters ofal hams have this quality while the letters of shiddah (strong letters such as jeem) does not.

The clearest of recording of Al Quran (I'm not saying the best recitation) in my opinion is the recording of Shaykh al Husary. You will hear every letter as he reads. Unlike others, that are contaminated with unnecessary reverberation and echo.

As has been noted earlier, the crying is highly recommended due to the meaning of the verses NOT the style of voice used while reading the verse.

When it comes to the Quran, it is of utter importance that the makharij is correct, so this is not allowed if you omitted letters etc.

It's not allowed.

As you know, the Arabic language is very sensitive to sounds.

the katab(a) [he wrote] is different from katab(aa) [both of them wrote]

so giving the "ba" a longer sound will definitely change the meaning.
