Turkish aid ships set sail for Gaza

A contingent of Turkish ships has set sail for the Gaza Strip in order to break the blockade of the region and deliver humanitarian aid to Gazans.

The three cargo vessels left Istanbul on Saturday to join an international fleet organized by the human rights organization, Free Gaza Movement.

The seaport was overwhelmed by thousands of well-wishers, who had come to show their support for the people of Gaza, Press TV correspondent Hassan Ghani reported.

Before departing, the organizers from different countries, including: Greece, Ireland and Sweden, outlined their reasons for joining the project and warned Israel not to interfere with the humanitarian act.

"Even if Israel stops us, if we have to swim, we will swim to Gaza," said Noorazman Shamsuddin, one of the organizers.

The Israeli navy, which has prevented many ships from entering the coastal region, has told the aid vessels not to come to the Gaza Strip.

The Free Gaza Movement is coordinating with numerous pro-Palestinian groups in the Freedom Flotilla project. The nine-vessel flotilla is set to cast anchor at the docks of Gaza on Thursday.

The Freedom Flotilla convoy is carrying 5,000 tons of construction material, medical equipment, and school supplies, as well as around 600 people from 40 countries.

Since 2007, the siege of Gaza has deprived 1.5 million Palestinians of fuel, food, and other basic necessities.

i don't know if one empire would be practical? but we should always be supporting each other politically, militarily and economically and act as one block against our enemies. if muslim nations truly worked together (like the West does today) i believe we would be able to keep imperialist warmongers out of the middle east.. syria and iraq have become strategic partners of turkey (thanks to foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu). i hope all nations in the region will adopt the mindset "together we stand, divided we fall"... anyway, i might be dreaming too much but i'm rather passionate about this, lol..

Jazak Allah, i've been feeling better today (which might be bad news for tomorrow)

Insha'Allah it will happen, but we need slow change.. I think they fear that change because it is impending!

(about feeling better today) you know having 'relapses' so to speak isn't a 'setback' just bumps on the road.. you have crossed major hurdles and must know that even the best of the best have bad days.. not ever bump on the road is fatal, you must constantly remind yourself of that!

Noorzaman is Arabic name, but maybe is not popular in Arabia. However, there are some Indonesian who have name "Nurzaman", from Nur/Noor (light) and Zaman (age).

The teachings of Islam can fail under no circumstances. With all our systems of culture and civilization, we can not go beyond Islam and, as a matter of fact, no human mind can go beyond the Qur'an.

Sr. Lily: check out persian and afghani names. I had a "male" friend named Gul. Gul means flower. Our Afghani neighbors, they had a baby born. They named him Limar Shams. It means Sun Sun But he definitely is one Sun, mashAllah. Green eyes, goldenish hair and you can see the veins under his white skin.

Dont forget the name Samandar Khan. It means Ocean Khan. My dad's friend, his name was Atlas (yes Atlas!) Khan.

Another Persian/Urdu name is Gul Bahaar which means the flower of spring. I had an English teacher in grade 8, his name was Gulab Khan which means Rose Khan. So yes. Our side of the world is intriguing. Allhamdulillah

Gül also means flower in Turkish (I assume it's a Turkish word). We have lots of Persian and Arabic words, but Mustafa Kemal tried to 'purify' the Turkish language hence now we have much less Arabic/Persian words than during the Ottoman period. When I read something from the Ottoman period (only 100 years ago) I can't understand it.. it sounds extremely Persian/Arabic.

I despise these people so much, I seriously wish I could get my hands on them.

Israel orders Navy to block Flotilla

Israel has tasked its Navy with intercepting the relief convoy of nine ships which is set to break the Tel Aviv-imposed siege of the Gaza Strip.

A number of Israeli warships were deployed on Saturday to confront the Freedom Flotilla, which is to depart from the Cypriot coast for the impoverished coastal sliver, The Hindu reported.

Press TV's correspondent Ashraf Shannon also said that there was a heavy presence of Israeli gunboats by Gaza's seashore.

The fleet consists of Turkish, Irish, British, and Greek vessels and was to take some 750 activists and around 10,000 tons of construction material, medical equipment and school supplies to Gaza.

Organizers, however, said on Saturday that at least two of the vessels are unlikely to make it as their hydraulic systems had broken down "under suspicious circumstances,” the German Press Agency (DPA) reported.

Under pressure from Tel Aviv's, Cypriot officials have refused to let the broken vessels to dock for repairs. Twenty-five international politicians, activists and artists were also barred from joining the group on Friday.

Best-selling Swedish author Hanning Mankell, who was prevented from joining the fleet in Cyprus said "restricting our freedom of movement will just contribute to further drawing the world's attention to the protracted and total limitation of the freedom of movement for inhabitants in Gaza."

Mankell called for the lifting of the blockade of Gaza.

According to the DPA report, the fleet will be deciding whether to set sail on Saturday or Sunday.

Tel Aviv has imposed a land, air, and sea blockade on Gaza since mid-June 2007, when the Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas gained control of the territory. The restrictions have deprived the enclave's nearly 1.5-million people of food, fuel, and other necessities.

Israel has threatened to either jail or deport activists and politicians onboard the ships, should they reach the strip.

lol at those names..I am that pale too I never found the vein beneath the skin thing attractive especially when you don't have blond hair to attenuate the sharp contrast.. I am looking into sunless tanning lotions ..

interesting News br. Argamenon (and hope this day finds you well insha'Allah)
wonder why this isn't getting any attention at all from the local news channels here .. The colonial settler state can do no wrong of course.. sometimes it is so absurd to even think that these colonialists have the temerity and after all they have done starting with colonizing, bombing, and torturing another country and for over 6 decades to stop aid from coming in. What kind of sub animal creations are these turds? May Allah swt dam n them in this life and the one to come..

What purpose is served by a blockade of humanitarian aid? I don't get it. What is Israel afraid of that they would blockade humanitarian help for Gaza??? I just don't understand these people.

    http://http://www.creative-i.info/20...t-top-stories/

    ??????

Anybody know what Israel's rationale is for the blockade?

I find it interesting that the western media has not picked up on this story at all.
