The myth that Islam was spread by the sword is either mentioned by the enemies of Islam or those who are too foolish to realise its implications. Amongst its implications is that violence was necessary to compel someone to accept a faith that has no basis in logic or reason. Amongst its implications is that Muslims have forcefully brought their intolerant system upon others without any evidence for its validity.

Needless to say that because it is a statement which implies the falsity of Islam it is a verbal form of kufr and we pray Allah swt forgives those who have said it in their ignorance. The myth is refuted here:

I am amazed at how Muslims undermine the efforts of fellow Muslims to spread the true peaceful message of Islam, even moreso than non-muslims.

Jihad is NOT declared on anyone just because they're non-muslims and considered "kuffar". This contradicts the ijma' (consensus) of the Muslim scholars who remind us that the Prophet Muhammad saws made peace treaties his first priority when he arrived in Madinah. We ask that members educate themselves before making ignorant statements about Islam, as Allah swt says:
39:32 Who, then, doth more wrong than one who utters a lie concerning Allah, and rejects the Truth when it comes to him; is there not in Hell an abode for blasphemers?
