    Exclamation I'm freaking out!

    Report bad ads?

Salaams again. Hope you all are doing well, and if not inshAllah you will.

So I am definitely ashamed and feeling extremely guilty for not fasting all the fasts for the past few years. I know that Allah is very disapointed in me for this stupid stupid stupid selfish act . I'm 19 now :/ and according to my calculations I have missed around 150 days of fasting. I have started to make each of those days up now, but I am just very scared because earlier today I read on a site with Al-bukhari hadiths that if someone didn't fast or broke it with no excuse can never make up for it. And here I have 150 days stacked up...Plus I don't really have the capability to feed what ever number poor people because I'm a student at the moment and not working. Is there still hope for me?!

I am in the similar situation as yours, with different details.

I am making up for my past missed fastings with monday-thursdays fastings. My missed fastings are a lot higher than yours.
I don't know what's the correct opinion, but I believe as long as we are sincere in our intention, then we leave the rest to Allah SWT.
Anyway, even it turns out that our fasts are not accepted as make-up fasts for the missed fastings, they are still accepted as naafil (supererogatory) fasts InshaAllah.

Asalaamu Alaikum, My sister there is always hope. It is ONLY shaythan who wants to try and make you lose hope. Know that Allah's mercy, compassion and forgiveness are all encompassing and his mercy is one of his most important and significant qualities of the almighty in the Qur’an, as well as in the saying and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).

In a Hadith Qudsi Allah states:

"O son of Adam, as long as you call upon Me and put your hope in Me, I have forgiven you for what you have done and I do not mind. O son of Adam, if your sins were to reach the clouds of the sky and then you would seek My forgiveness, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, if you were to come to Me with sins that are close to filling the earth and then you would meet Me without ascribing any partners with Me, I would certainly bring to you forgiveness close to filling it."

In this Hadithi Qudsi, Allah gives hope to mankind more than any other narration. It displays the quality and attribute of Allahs mercy. Indeed, He is ar-Rahman, the Most Compassionate, and ar-Raheem, the Most Merciful.

In this Hadithi Qudsi, Allah tells man of the greatness of His forgiveness and mercy so that no one would despair due to the amount of sins he may have committed. This is supported by the following verse of the Holy Quran:

Say: O My servants who have transgressed against their own souls, despair not of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Surah az-Zumar 39:53)

So then why should we despair?

Approximately 113 chapters of the Holy Qur’an begin with: "In the name of Allah the Most-Compassionate; the Most-Merciful".

When supplicating, one should truly seek Allahs aid and His forgiveness and demonstrate his need for Allah and submit to Him with fear and hope in receiving the desired response. Allah advises in Surat al-Araaf 7:56:

And invoke Him in fear and aspiration (of hope). Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to those who do good.

Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people. (Surah Yusuf 12:87)

One must be hopeful of Allahs mercy and forgiveness and fearful of His punishment. It is this fear that should lead one to seek Allahs forgiveness with hope. Allah says:

Know that Allah is severe in punishment and that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (Surat al-Maaidah 5:98)

These are constant reminders to all who read the Qur’an of the great mercy, compassion and forgiveness of Almighty Allah. So do not despair for whatever wrongs we have done if we repent sincerely with remorse and with the intention to NEVER committing such sin/s again then surely Allah the most merciful will forgive us.

Sincere repentance from sin is also an expiation for sin, and “the one who repents from sin is like the one who did not sin.” And Allaah will turn his bad deeds into good deeds.

In regards to the fasts you have broken and have missed then if you have broken any fasts during any Ramadan by intentionally eating and drinking then you will have to do one kaffarah for those fasts even if you broke many fasts in past Ramadan's. This one kaffarah which you are obliged to fulfill is that you fast 60 days continuously except for when you come onto your periods. As soon as they finish then you can resume the fasts again. If you do not fast for any day in between then you will have to do the 60 fasts all over again because they HAVE to be done consecutively.

For more information of Kaffarah: http://books.themajlis.net/node/179

It is not permissable for you to do any other kaffarah unless you have ill health or old age. The 60 kaffarah fasts which you will have to fast are on top of the 150 or so fasts which you have to make up for from past Ramadan's. Be conservative when calculating the amount of fasts you need to make up for meaning if you do not know how many fasts you need to complete then it is better to make up more than less.

Once you have completed the 60 days kaffarah fasts then you can fast the rest gradually whatever you are able to handle. As the brother mentioned you can make up for these fasts on Mondays and Thursdays and also make double intention of fasting those days as a Sunnah so you can get the rewards of doing a Sunnah fasts as well.

If you are sincere in your repentance and make up the Kaffarah fasts and whatever fasts you missed in Ramadan the who's to say Allah may reward you immensley and also be pleased with you that you are trying to redeem yourself. He can reward you whatever he wants so why not keep begging him to reward you like you fasted in Ramadan. Allah likes it when his slaves are persistant in asking of him for good things.

So my sister do not despair. Alhamdulillah you are still young and Allah has given you the realisation at this stage in your life and now you can from now on strive everyday to do everything to please him and refrain from anything that displeases him. There is nothing stopping you or anyone else from gaining the highest ranks of Paradise except yourselves!

So never lose hope. Hold on to the rope of Allah and strive everyday to please him as much as you can. Increase your good deeds and refrain from sins. Establish a close connection with Allah through dua and prayer and be the best towards others.
