25% (most likely higher) of male students in my high-school wear earrings or have their ears pierced.

Our school is 75% (Muslim Neighborhood) or so Muslim students.

So... Are Males Allowed To Wear Earrings?

May be ring in hand ( if not gold ) is allowed but men must not wear dress / do fashion like women and the vice versa. Prophet pbuh forbade it . Prophet pbuh or any companion did not wear earrings , at least I never heard of it .

Better not to immitate non Muslims culture / fashion.

    And Allah Knows Best.

What do you mean by dress/do fashion? Because with what the media is going, boys are allowed to dress like girls and vice versa lol. Everything seems acceptable..

Is there a quote from the Quran which says that boys aren't allowed to get their ears pierced or wear earrings?

    Ja'Zakullah for the links.

A lot of male friends (some muslims) have earrings, but it's just a small diamond one on one ear. Kind of peer-pressured to get my ears pierced and wear it.

Inshallah I don't feel this pressure and I think elsewhere.

Re: Are Males Allowed To Wear Earrings?

There's no boy in my high school (mid 80's) who wore earring because school forbade it. But outside the schools there were guys wore earring on left ear.

Why left?. Wear earring for guys show who you are. If you wear earring on left ear, you are rocker. If you wear earring on right ear, you are gay. If you wear earring on both ears, ....... ohh, hello ladyboy!

What about when ideas of gender specific clothing begin to change? A lot of things that may have been exclusively female oriented are no longer that way, so you could make the argument that earrings are heading in that direction. Also, things like pants were once exclusively for men, but are now worn by both genders.

Just as a general rule, not doing something isn't really a proof of anything.

I suppose we should all shave off our beards then, since the hipsters are doing that now. Wouldn't want people to think we were imitating them.

I feel like having the whole, "don't imitate non Muslims" as an absolute rule doesn't really make much sense when you get into it.

Abu Hurayra said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, cursed any man who wears women's clothes and any woman who wears men's clothes." [Abu Dawud]

Just as a general rule, not doing something isn't really a proof of anything.

Prophet pbuh never wore earings , didnot encourage any men to wear it . That's a guideline that there is no such bleesings for men in this. So , why waste time , energy , money for earrings and go through the pain of piercing ears ?

I suppose we should all shave off our beards then,

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said "I have no connection with one who shaves, shouts and tears his clothing eg. in grief or affication."
    - Reported by Abu Darda (R.A.) in Muslim, Hadith no. 501

Since when media became our guide instead of Quran and Hadith ?

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) cursed men who copy women and cursed women who copy men.
    [Al-Bukhari].

Is there a quote from the Quran which says that boys aren't allowed to get their ears pierced or wear earrings?

No , but Quran says to follow the Prophet pbuh . We know that he did not wear it , neither did he encourage any men to do it.

In the west, wearing pants actually began when women wanted to start working. They'd wear their husband's pants. There's nothing wrong with women wearing pants, however from an islamic perspective, wearing them in public it's not acceptable because it reveals their shape, and generally the women that do wear pants, wear the ones that are very tight fitting. Also if we're speaking within this same context, it's become socially acceptable for women to wear pants, and tight pants are now attributed to women's fashion generally right? but as you can see, there are even guys who are wearing tight pants as well (and when this particular fashion started, many of them actually would buy women specified pants), which makes them look more feminine, ironically. It's kind of sickening really when I think about it now actually...cuz I can understand the reason for women starting to wear pants, maybe because it's easier to work in than wearing dresses and skirts, but after some time for both sides it's become more of an immodest fashion, and some guys may consider their actions as a rebellious statement towards "gender equality" or whatever.

Men and women both should dress modestly, that's something that we both can agree on. Despite whether the fashion changes, we both know that if we see a guy/girl dressed in a certain way, it's very obvious if they are trying to imitate the opposite sex, and this imitation is what's forbidden. Not to mention, this society is really trying to make it so that there is no difference between genders. The entire ideology began with nonMuslims and their obsession with fashion and accepting homosexuality, and everyone else is following it to look the same with the illusion that they look different from one another.

If I look at a Muslim, I should be able to tell that they are within the Islamic dress code. Their clothes should not imitate the clothes of the nonMuslims and when I say this, I mean you should not be able to be categorized in some kind of way. If I see a guy wearing baggy clothing, with his shorts sagging, and his brand new shoes, I could easily categorize him into a group, and same thing if I saw a guy wearing tight clothes with black hair and swept bangs. I mean these people actually put a lot of thought into their dress and appearance to make a statement whether it's "I'm wealthy" "I'm hood" "I'm gay" "I'm rebellious" etc. It steals away from a man's hijaab. What's wrong with wearing regular neutral clothes? lol You could argue what the definition of "regular clothes" truly is, but I don't think I should have to go into that argument.

I'm only applying my statements to the US and what I've personally witnessed. I can't speak for any other countries as I don't know their customs..

One more thing, history repeats itself. Just because these specific things are happening now doesn't excuse us from observing what we were taught to practice. So if clothes have "evolved" and the gender specification has changed, it doesn't deter from the reality and issue that the appearance of men and women must always be separated and easily distinguishable from one another.

No one should be pressuring you to do anything. If you feel pressured due to your own self-esteem, then maybe you should try to lift your self-confidence.

Muslim males are not allowed to wear earring, however there are Muslims who still wear earring although they know this prohibition. They are Muslim who neglect rule of halal and haram in Islam.

Young bro, if you wear earring on your left ear, first, you would become one of rockers. Second, you would become one of Muslim folk who neglect rule of halal and haram.

So, still want to wear earring on your left ear?.

"If one imitates another folk he will be from them." (HR Imam Abu Dawud)
This Hadith gets used a lot, and sometimes without indication as to its explanation or context. I think it's better if it's given a context and understanding that goes with it:

    http://www.suhaibwebb.com/islam-stud...n-suhaib-webb/
Are Males Allowed To Wear Earrings?
