Pshycology should be included in school curriculum

    Assalam alaiykum,
From two-three months, I was very depressed. It was almost very difficult for me to face people. Only reading salah used to give me immense peace and tranquility. I searched something on YouTube about islam and ended up watching some motivational Islamic videos by Nouman Ali Khan, Yasmin Mojahed, Mufti Menk and many more. I almost became addicted of watching videos because it gave all my answers at spiritual level. It gave a new meaning to my life, I started viewing life from a completely different persepective and it added colors to my life. There was a time where I used to think that Islam is just a set of rules and regulations, but now when I understand it deeply , it gives peace and happiness to me and I feel sorry for my old opinions. I was never like this before.
What basically I want to say, just having knowledge or qualifications or degree won't help us in anyway unless we learn the art of living life, learn how to deal with problems and tackle our situation. When we get to listen some really good motivational speaker, it elevates us to a very high level especially if it is Islamic.
If psychology will be included in school curriculum, then children will from very beginning get to understand people, will know how to react to anything on a basic level. Of course not everyone can master it, but it's an easy and interesting subject. If we all have an idea of this subject on a basic level from childhood then I think we will be less vulnerable to problems that life pose.
What you all think? Please do share your opinion.

    Asalaamualaykum.

Learning psychology and self applying it is very different to someone who knows psychology and applies it to you.

The very knowledge of psychology does not mean that one can self apply it. You might not be aware of but many psychologists themselves turn to other psychologists themselves for help.

In the UK - State schooling system, many applications of psychology are implemented to help children - yet the child does not know it, they can effectively build a mechanism to cope with situations.

Very long interesting topic - Good thread.

Like you rightly said, you got enlightened after learning from Islamic Scholars. So I guess instead of saying psychology, we can just say that we need to understand Islam in depth, which is definitely obligatory for any Muslim. Psychology has many things in it that are human designed, so it may or may not be successful, which can be argued about. But as for Islam, it always works because it's from Allah, no matter whatever situation you are in. Hence I am sure we would rather give importance to Islamic education, which includes your psychology and far better things, rather than just psychology as a school subject. Jazakallah Khair.

Yeah actually I meant this only. Actually I live in India, which is a non muslim country so whenever I think something for the good of society, I have to be secular in my ideas. Hope you understand.
Anyways I m feeling blessed to be born as Muslim. Feeling easy when you have problems in your life is a bliss.

    Salaam

I'm leery about Psychology, a 'soft' science. There's a lot of problems with it for example the replication crises.

    To quote
    Vox Day

    Psychology is not science

And neither are many other pseudoscientific fields with scientific pretensions. Because the credibility of science depends upon its replicability, it naturally follows that any "scientist" who does not release his data for independent review and replication is not doing science:
Fraud Case Seen as a Red Flag for Psychology Research

A well-known psychologist in the Netherlands whose work has been published widely in professional journals falsified data and made up entire experiments, an investigating committee has found. Experts say the case exposes deep flaws in the way science is done in a field, psychology, that has only recently earned a fragile respectability.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/03/health/research/noted-dutch-psychologist-stapel-accused-of-research-fraud.html

I'm not dismissing the whole enterprise I just think don't think its the silver bullet, there are better ways of understanding the Human condition.
