The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful. I ask this question because, I live in a city where I dont know any Muslim around me but only Christians, and my father is a Muslim but he lives far away from my home and I live with my Christian mother. I dont know how to celebrate Eid Al Adha and Eid Al Fitr myself.

So, can someone please tell me whether it is obligatory or just Sunnah to celebrate them? Because, I dont want to make a mistake and fall into disbelief if I havent celebrated them.
