A YouTuber and a search for the truth

    Report bad ads?

    Assalamo Alaykum,
I'm 14 years old and at a point in my life where confusion gets the best of me.
I come from a pious Indian Muslim family, yet my Iman is not the strongest. I don't pray 5 times a day yet and I hope to start soon Insha' Allah.
I believe many people, especially ones of my age, go through this frustration. Call me 'foolish' or 'Mushrik' but I am not a strong believer in God, like I had mentioned earlier. I am looking for the truth, and hope to find out before my death.
So I was browsing YouTube and found this video by Mr Atheist where he basically criticizes Islam. As much as I hate to say this, I watched it out of curiosity. And may I just say, his claims and arguments are really believable. He made me (once more) question the existence of a Creator. I'll link the video later.
My humble request to you is to just go through it maybe once or twice and let me know what you think. Has this had the same effect on you as it did on me? Are there any valid arguments against it?
    Here it is:

Re: A YouTuber and a search for the truth

    وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته

Welcome to the forum. Firstly, we are not here to call you names, rather we are your brothers and sisters who are here to help you and share the beautiful message of Islam with you. However, you did make a mistake by watching a video of an atheist, because you are putting yourself in danger if your knowledge of Islam and your eemaan is already weak. You should instead take steps to strengthen yourself and you can do that by reading the Qur'an and trying to understanding its meaning.

About the video - I removed the link because we don't want to encourage anyone to watch these kinds of videos. You can find so many videos and articles on the internet criticising Islam but that doesn't mean their arguments are valid. Islam is the true religion and the guidance from our Creator, so how can there be any flaw in it? There is not a single argument that can prove Islam is false. Alhamdulillah, Muslim scholars have refuted the arguments raised by the enemies of Islam, and just as you might find criticisms against Islam, you can find the responses to those criticisms.

Over the years, we have had numerous atheists and people of other religions come on this forum and try to debate about Islam, but none of them have succeeded in proving Islam is false. We have made lists of threads and topics where responses can be found to some common questions, and there are other websites that serve this purpose as well. We don't encourage people to learn Islam by studying refutations. But if someone is faced with a doubt, they can use this as a reference. You can see here:

    Index of useful threads
    Alleged Contradictions in the Qur'an

If there are particular questions that are troubling you, the brothers and sisters here will try to help you with those. But please do not watch anti-Islamic videos or read nonsense coming from non-Muslims about Islam. Study the religion yourself from the proper sources. Allah سبحانه وتعالى says in the Qur'an:

    لَّا يَأْتِيهِ الْبَاطِلُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ ۖ تَنزِيلٌ مِّنْ حَكِيمٍ حَمِيدٍ
Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it: (it is) sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise (Allah عز وجل).

Re: A YouTuber and a search for the truth

I doubt people, especially online youtubers ( I watch many youtube channels) have the intellectual capacity or the knowledge to "refute" any religion, let alone Islam. I have listened to Sam Harris, Maher, Dawkins, Hitchens and I doubt how much time they actually spent on studying religion before trying to "refute" it. And these youtubers are just some random people, I even read parts of Nietzche's "Anti-Christ".

Atheism is largely a cultural phenomenon which is a result of Western philosophies on "freedom", "human rights", "equality" which are absurd values which aren't present at practical level and they attack Islam with such values.

    Read this report: https://news.rice.edu/2015/12/03/fir...-are-atheists/

“More than half of scientists in India, Italy, Taiwan and Turkey self-identify as religious,” Ecklund said. “And it’s striking that approximately twice as many ‘convinced atheists’ exist in the general population of Hong Kong, for example, (55 percent) compared with the scientific community in this region (26 percent).”
The researchers did find that scientists are generally less religious than a given general population. However, there were exceptions to this: 39 percent of scientists in Hong Kong identify as religious compared with 20 percent of the general population of Hong Kong, and 54 percent of scientists in Taiwan identify as religious compared with 44 percent of the general population of Taiwan. Ecklund noted that such patterns challenge longstanding assumptions about the irreligious character of scientists around the world.

You are young, many scientists have come before you. Most of them believed in God. Many of the equations and constants in Physics, you will read are from religious scientists who believed in God like Planck, Newton, etc.

The islamic introducer of the scientific method, Ibn al-Haytham was religious, as was West's founder of scientific method Francis Bacon. You should know all these wise people believed in God, and helped setup civilization, not atheists.

    Jazakallah for all the answers.
Do you think social media platforms should encourage such content? I don't. It can mislead so many people like it almost did to me.
Alhamdulliah. I have gotten the right guidance from the right people.

Social media is neutral platform (although YouTube delete anti-Israel or anti-European videos).

So YouTube nor Facebook will remove anti-islam c contents. So Muslims have to form arguments against criticism.

However they actually have a multi-million dollar anti-Islam industry, we are just ordinary people, so whereas there are tens of thousands of sites, channels, articles attacking Islam, only a few handful of us are there who study enough to formulate counter arguments.

Re: A YouTuber and a search for the truth

There is a saying in Islam, 'do not lend a deviant your ear as you never know what may find fixity in you'

The above refers to Muslim deviants who are into bidah

So fortiori logic tells us we shouldn't lend a KAAFIR deviant a ear all the more!

Stay away from these deniers of Alllah bruv as they'll only take you to hell with them

    Salaam

This thread should help you deal with the problem of atheism, they tend to be strong on rhetoric not so much when it comes to substance.
