Suffering from waswas (OCD intrusive thoughts)

    Report bad ads?

    Assalamualaikum everyone

I suffer from intrusive thoughts and I am not able to manage them. They are not going away.
The worst thoughts I get are from my old job. I worked in a bank, the people there were not good. I still get thoughts of my old boss yelling and screaming at me. The way he treated employees was disgusting, he yelled and sweared at them and tried to justify his abuse. I dont think he even realized he was abusing us, thats how delusional he was.

I am trying very hard to forget this man, I left my job but he wont leave my head. I think I have OCD.
I left my job when someone threatened to beat me, fed up I complained to my boss but he instead starting screaming at me that he runs his office his way and I am overreacting. He even said some nonsense like everyone in the bank fears me!
I quit after that, the boss starting avoiding me after I asked for a reassignment. This was the same guy who asked me to join in the first place, his attitude changed after I joined and he acted like he was doing me a favor.

Its a much longer story but Ive shortened It and I want to get rid of my intrusive thoughts.
I feel like Ive failed, I feel like I did something wrong by allowing him to scream at me. I've told him on whatsapp that he doesnt act like a civilized person and I didnt join to satisfy his ego.
But I cant let go it, I get waswas regarding my job. Hes still screaming at me in my head and I want it to stop. Its been an year since Ive left and I want it to stop now.

    Asalaamu Alaikum,

My brother it is very apparent that you have been through a very traumatic experience as you and others were essentially bullied. You should have reported this individual to his Manager or HR and written a formal complaint/grievance against him.

It is extremely important that you get therapy/counselling as soon as possible as you have clearly been scarred by the terribly traumatic experiences you went through with the bullying Manager and being threatened by another member of staff. There is absolutely no shame in getting professional help otherwise these issues may get worse.

You can also look into the following thread which is aimed at helping people overcome waswas/OCD issues. Go through the entire thread, make notes and implement the help and advices:

May Allah make it easy for you. Ameen

Thanks a lot for your response brother. May Allah reward you.

I stopped from reporting him because the others are probably like him too. They gave us no respect at all. I was told they might ruin my chances of getting another job if I reported so I didnt. I had not experienced a disgusting work culture like this before, everyone acts like this behaviour is normal.

Ok brother I have tried to get help from a therapist but my parents dont take it seriously. They say a therapist cant help you.

Ok brother I will look at this thread thanks.

I dont know whats wrong with me, but he comes back in my head and screams at me. Its like hes still here insulting me. I want to forgive this guy, Ive even told him I forgive him on whatsapp for treating me like this. I dont hate him anymore but these hurtful thoughts keep coming back and are not leaving me alone.
I really disliked how deceitful he was, like this guy is threatening to beat me and he says "you both are fighting!". this guy threatened to hit me and I said nothing and he tells me you both fighting.
Whats worse he said he was fasting that day, what use is this fast if he behaves like this. The biggest problem was this guy had also borrowed some money for me, I was also afraid he would not give me my money back if I had reported him. I never got the money back, but Ive forgiven that too. It was just money but what I cant forget is how he insulted me.

What I am grateful for is that this brought me closer to Allah. So maybe this was a blessing, I got out of there and I am a better Muslim now.

Brother are you hamza on ummah forum too
