umm ok im asking this coz some of my friends cant really find a solution (some of them go thru it themselves).
Alhamdulilah personally i love to read Quran, do qiyam n stuff.. but i feel reallllyy weird with my parents seeing me do that.. i dunno i think its to do with the fact that they treat me like a 6 year old when they see me doing good stuff, like all those praises and "good boy" "mashalah excelelnt"... and to be quite honest, i know they mean it with really good intentions n to encourage me.. but it actually gets on my nerves coz i really don't want to hear any of that.
It's pretty much got to the point where i'm reeeally frustrated at home because it's hard to do things without my parents noticing (the place im in most of the day is the lounge and they're there too). The negative part is that they're concerned i dont read quran and keep upto date with my islam because i don't do anythign when they're around... And that's getting to me too.
lol in other words, i just wish i'm by myself or with my friends and not have them be like that towards me.. but has anyone gone thru such thign and got over it soem how??
sorry this email sounds so negative but i really need help.. The only reason why i'm happy to read and practise and talk with my friends is because they don't go treating me like a baby and overpraising.. you know.. its normal for us.
If ur parents get happy by seein u pray n stuff then thats better coz u get reward for makin em happy also u shud b happy to be gettin praised from ur parents, theres loadsa kids whos parents dont encourage them AT ALL! And they wud luv sum praise from there parents, ur blessed, bout time u realised it

jazak bro for the advise.. ok but how about i complete the picture..
I knwo they want the best for me and stuff, but i also get annoyed when they're selective abotu what they praise me for, and they're really cynical when i say i wanna do toher things, like far out.. if i say i wanna go over to a friends place to read some Hadith or teach them quran or just do soemthing Islamic they're like "You're good at showing your friends that you're religious" and that reeally hurts me..
like i actually don't care less what they think, but when they become an obstacle between me and my islamic social life it hurts.. i mean, let's say i'm a showoff, (who knows, maybe i am) the whole point of good friends is so they can push you along and help improve you to the better (and my parents admit that my friends are good)....
its so confusing.. like if i pickup a quran and read at home they're all praise, and if i wanna get involved in anythign islamic outside teh house, it becomes a mountain of cynicism... that kills me, n das y i just don't do anything infront of them.
look my parents are great ppl dont get me wrong, but that part kills me..
i rekon thousands of people go thru that coz i most certainly did and even now i do! My mum says "be religious inside why do u hav to showoff". Big deal, love ma parents n i'll keep em happy, hope u feel wat im sayin inshaAllah!

lol jazaks 4 that bro.. looks like im not the only one.. but yeh ill tryy.. coz now its been like years its been like this.. and every day that passes, it feels harder and harder for me to change my behaviour infront of them..
im not rude or nething.. its only that i just keep quiet when they're around lol.
they say that coz they sense i'm diff outside to the way i am at home.. at home i don't really talk that much about Islam.. i just do my prayers be nice to them but i dont learn or memorise nethign when they're around...
my mates think its something that happens between "religious parents" n "religious kids" coz the parents are "over worried" about their kids so they over encourage, and that makes the kid feel like "i wanna do this 4 sake of Allah not for all that praise n stuff".
maybe if you practised and read quran infront of them too, they wont feel like youre different outside the house? er and if they still say things that sound like comments to a little kid, well i think parents will always look at their children like that
dont get fustrated. you read qur'an right? in it it says have sabr. so dont get angry, keep practising it openly and secretly insha Allah it may encourage your familty to practise even more. just make du'a.
