    Re: Don\\\\\\\'t feel anything...Why?

maybe uv not been doing much apart from that and ur just generally bored. If you are just praying and worshipping in a routine way you need to try doing sumthing els active.
Try listening to some Quran recitation by a Qari who recites with feeling and have u heard of the cassette called Muslim youth by sum sheikh, i\\\'l get u the link Insha\\\'Allah it\\\'s really good and talks of the heroic things young muslims in the past have done.
Its just the Shaitaan trying to make u feel that all ur Ibaadah is pointless. Read ayat-al-kursi with the meaning in your mind and u\\\'ll be okay Insha\'allah. May Allah bless u and make u make ur heart yearn for Islam

    Re: Don\\\'t feel anything...Why?

I think i know what you mean.. one of the reasons why this might be is because you experienced emaan [faith] at the beginning and you liked that, but later on things just got repetitive so your emotions stopped - because things don't seem that interesting no more.

Maybe this might have been because you blocked your emotions out because you was scared that your past emotions will make you want to go back to the old ways again, or that spark of emaan that you had in the beginning has died out because you feel that you doing the same thing over and over again.

The first thing you gota realise is that alot of people do say that songs have changed their life and they used to feel a high when they used to listen to them. Everything seemed dramatic and since they've stopped, things have gone more quieter, their life's become more less dramatic in a way.

The thing that I can say is that people have experienced the same, and what made them have that stronger sense of emaan again was that they started trying to do the things which sparked their emaan off in the first place at the beginning. So because I found it interesting to read stories of the prophets, i would read lives of other pious people who followed their way. If i heard audio lectures about islaam, i would try learning in another way - so maybe through watching islamic videos instead.

The main thing to do is to start learning again, because a person usually gets that feeling when they've stopped learning for some reason.. so their emotions go down either because they've stopped, or they've done it too much, so they become bored because they've become too used to it.

That's why doing lots of other activities related to Islaam make the person feel that continous high feeling in their emaan. You see how in the life of the Messenger of Allaah (sal Allaahu alayhi waSalam) and his companions, Allaah destined that whenever something happens, another situation will come suddenly after it. So for example, just when the muslims won the battle of Badr, when they returned - the daughter of the Messenger of Allaah had just passed away. Or just when the Messenger of Allaah's wife Khadija passes away, soon after that the Messenger of Allaah is abused in Al-Taa'if.

You see how the events change all of a sudden so quick for them, and because their actually living the Qur'an and Sunnah - they feel the emotion, whereas when we simply just listen to lectures - its not exactly the same as living it.. so we might just switch it off. So what we have to do is live islaam, so when you learn something - tell yourself that you'll benefit atleast one mate of yours with that knowledge.

Give yourself targets. This will keep you focused insha'Allaah. So when you learn, you still have the duty of passing that knowledge on.

Study the biography of the lives of the Prophet's, and the companions [male or female.] And work hard to change one thing about yourself per day, so you can be like them.

Read an aayah (verse) from Qur'an and try to see if you can memorise one verse per day.

Find a hadith and see if you can implement it in your life, one a week.

You see how all this is practical? You get the knowledge, practise it, pass it on, which shows that you're dedicated and sincere for the sake of Allaah. This is the way of the companions. And if you make targets for yourself, then you strive to do better than doing nothing at all. It will keep you busy and you'll have new activities everytime so you don't get bored.

Also remember that the more longer lasting and stronger your contact with Allaah, the stronger your emaan will stay. So work hard to gain that by continuously asking Allaah for help through whatever you do.

A good dua' from the sunnah is:

Ya Muqalib al Qulub thabit Qalbi 'ala Deenek

[Oh Turner of hearts, turn my heart towards Your religion.]

    more dua's from sunnah:

    And Allaah knows best.

We aren't supposed to feel anything, and Islam is not a Jedi religion. But know that Allah loves you and every minute of your life is Mercy and Blessing from Him to you.

Bro Fi_Sabilillah gave very good advice, follow that advice. Don't forget to recite the Quran every now and then, you'll experience the tranquility.

May Allah give guidance to all of us. Ameen!

    Re: Don't feel anything...Why?

bro/sis imaan fluctuates so its going to go up and down, the amount we feel i guess taht depends on the amount of good and bad deeds we do. For example i wouldnt expect to be able to seriously feel something in my heart and cry if i been sinning a lot, at the same time i wouldnt expect to do somethin like kabira sin when i been doing a lot of good deeds. Maybe if you just do a lot of good deeds like helpin out your neighbour or takin care of ur sisters kids (if u hav any ) or somethin like that, theres so many things which can brighten our hearts to bring those emotions back.

Try visiting some orphans or something, or go to the hospitol (to visit those close to death), im sure u kno wat im getting at, the only thing which helps me when i feel like that is listenin to quran recitation and talking to my mum about the beautiful sahabi's n anbiyaa etc, those are the truelly special people... and talking about them revitalises the heart.

Forgive me if i was of no help, but thas my advice inshaAllah.

may Allah keep our imaan strong and help us attain the highest ranks of jannatul firdaus!

    Ameen
