    Matters in Imaan

Shaykh Saalih Bin Fawzaan Al-Fawzaan was asked the following question:

What is the ruling of the one who abandons all the apparent acts (of worship) in their totality but he pronounces the Shahaadatain and believes in the Faraa'idh (obligatory duties) but doesn't perform anything from them definitively,so is he considered a Muslim or not? Whilst knowing that he doesn't have a legislative excuse that prevents him from establishing those Faraa'idh?

    The Answer:

This individual is not considered a believer, whoever believes in his heart and affirms with his tongue but he doesn't actualize it with his bodily limbs and gives up all actions without a legislative excuse then this one is not considered a believer and that is because Al-Imaan as we mentioned previously and just as Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah knows that (Al-Imaan) is a statement with the tongue and a firm unwavering belief in the heart and actions with the bodily limbs, and the result of Imaan is not acquired except with the gathering of all these affairs (collectively), so if someone abandons just one from amongst these then verily he is not considered a believer.
