How to prevent the faith decreasing overtime?

    Report bad ads?

    Assalamu alaikum,

I am a muslim. I have two questions for you guys. I think both questions are interconnected to each other.

    1. In my case, I experience waswas most of the time. its intensity is low if i am not doing good things. But if i stand up for pray or do dhikr, i experience bad thoughts (which i think is not really thoughts). So, i am afraid to think of the meaning of the prayers that i do in my salah, because if i do, there would be bad thoughts as a by product . I know many good muslims experience waswas or whispers. I want to know how you tackled them.

    2. This question is related to the first one. In the good times when i have some faith, the whispers or bad thoughts stop for some time. But after some time, the bad thoughts gradually comes to my mind. As a result, my faith also gradually decreases. Does anyone have the same experience? How you prevent your imaan being decreasing?

    Sorry for the bad english.

If you are totally derailed, Satan needs not work on you.. if you have faith and if you are doing 'good' then Satan is worried and will attack you with waswas.

So, in short, if you experience waswas, I feel, you are on tne right track. Satan is trying his best.

Just have faith and ignore the waswas..

    Thanks for your reply.

How you ignore waswas? Because if we accept the waswas or make mistake in doing so will affect our faith. Right?

The thing is to ask why is it that you have waswas? Sometimes may be from forgetfulness/carelessness, some question your reason/intention for example. Why you do things? For Allah. Don't overthink things.

Yes, I have waswas when i do a good deed. First there is good thoughts on it. Then i'll thought that i can also think the other way that is the wrong way. Anyway, i try to prevent this most often. But if i think the other way, it decreases my faith. What would be best to do if thats the case?

Re: How to prevent the faith decreasing overtime?

So the cure is to ignore it and read Qur'aan?

Wallah I've been going through this waswass for almost 3 months, almost. The more I try to counter act it, the stronger it becomes.. So I will have faith and ignore.

my waswass has been on shirk...
How to prevent the faith decreasing overtime?

Meaning of Shirk according to The Qur'an
" Worshipping anyone or anything besides Allah " or " distributing anything exclusive to Allah, to anyone or anything else "

Meaning of Tawheed according to The Qur'an
Worshipping none but Allah. Affirming whatever is exclusive to Him, Him alone.

Yes, I think have the same waswas. It would be either on a major shirk or a minor one. Its not a action. Just a whisper thought.

You need to increase your zikr and remember Allah Subhana wa talah as often as you can. Shaitaan and his tribe are our enemy and hate us performing good deeds. Naturally they come and attack us when we are in touch with our creator. You need to try and overcome this by ignoring it and not letting the thoughts effect you. Start off by saying your morning and evening zikhr and read surah Ikhlas, surah Falaq and Surah Naas often. Remember they are there to turn you away from doing good.

Honestly, long time I read Quran. just don't entertain the waswass. TRUST YOURSELF, trust that you are right, KNOW that you are right, don't let the WASWASS make you doubt!!

    Reading Quran will help, definitely.

Re: How to prevent the faith decreasing overtime?

Waswas can be a hard battle as it is with yourself.

Know that we all have 2 sides. The best side is with imaan and the other is controlled by desires. Desires, it seems, has no waswas... not strange? Only ocassional guilt perhaps ...

So when trying to keep to the path with it being a 'way of life', it really is all encompassing and totally complexor so it seems. Hence so much room for doubt to creep in, which leads to uncertainty and frustration, and ultimately give up.

Allah tells us to seek a portion of this world too whilst we earn our portion for the next. (Not exact words). So, what are we doing and why? That would be tbe intention or niyah. Followed by actually doing it and how we do it. How we take to the results, good or bad.

Humility will be plaqued with self doubts as though they are being fake, as with charitable deeds as being insincere etc.. the point is why you did that in the first place. Get that right.

If it comes to matters of syirk, I remind myself that Allah is Robbinnaas, Maalikinnaas illahinnaas.. and that I understand not matters beyond my realm. But Allahu Haqq.

I listen to the recitation (which is in Arabic)

I read the translation when I want to know/understand what Allah is saying. Which empowers my knowledge, and accertains the knowledge that I have.

I learnt to read it. I can read it at a slow crawl if I want my tajweed correct and stop for breath at the right places etc. Making sure that the various sounds for "h","a","s","t" etc.

I read the Quran translation in English and mother tongue (Malay) and I try to understand and memorise the meaning of the verses I learn.. (the shorter ones..)

I guess you can say so..

The root to everything is the intention. Then how do you do it helps determine the scale of the deed. So doing it well because it will please Allah in the way you go about seeking your portion of this world, there leaves little room for waswas. If doubt occurs, reeavualte how you could do better next time. If there is no other way, ask Allah to inspire you. Don't be disappointed if He doesn't

Anyway, I think its better to learn arabic itself. Do you know of any complete video tutorials or pdf to learn arabic online?

Respond the shaitan. As if he is a real person with real words. Counter them. It works.
