i think karsi is the right word... for abu_____ and umm_____

just interested to know all about karsi's
are these people actually parents of _____
is it a replacement for their normal name?
does anybody name their kids like that?

sorry if the qns are silly :hiding:

Lol, it's Kunyah not karsi :) but no they do not necessarily have to be the exact names of the persons child, and it's not exactly a 'replacement' for the persons name, it's just a sunnah that the Prophet peace be upon him encouraged....so regardless whether the person has a child or not he/she can still pick a name which he/she likes and apply the Abu/Umm on to it :)

Uma mean da mother of...


so i can say Uma ilyaas or abu ilyaas...

which mean they hv a son called ilyaas.....

On the other hand, some ppl call themselves with those named although they dont hv kids yet!! its okey thou....
