Sis, if u want to go into a full time career, then do something that you will enjoy doing.

If you dont want to into a full time career, do something that if the situation is like ur husband cant work or anything, you will be able to find a job in that field and earn.

Assalamu Alaikum

It's a toughie.
Obviously it pays well when you qualify and get a job, but you shouldreally go for something you feel comfortable with.
The other thing is the course is a very tricky one, and they'll expect high standards in language written and spoken.
If you do go for it, i would take a course in languages as well to fine-tune your writing.

Best of luck in whatever you decide.

Only do it if you have a passion for it. Seriously.

You shouldn't have to worry too much about language (depending on which uni you're planning to attend), but something along those lines will help. If you're interested in the business side of things, you could choose more commercial electives - but it is difficult to secure a training contract with a commercial firm.

I'm not saying don't do it, I'm saying be aware of what is involved if you do decide to do it. Do you have a careers adviser? He or she would probably be much better at this than any of us on this here interweb forum-board thingy.

is it possible for you to go to work for a year or two, until you decide what field really interests you?

I am not sure how old you are, seems like you are young. If you are in high school it is great time to explore and search what may interest you. If you are in college take some classes in topics that interests you. Sometimes you will find what you love by accident that is why it is so important to do istikhara and ask Allah (swt) when you are deciding.

Peace...
Who said I'm worrying about language...? Lol. Jus caz i chat lyk this sumtym dun't mean i ent capable of communicating like this...Hehe I just choose not too. I'm currently undertaking a course in English Language...How dire and tedious it is indeed :D
I get exactly what you mean. But bro' like sooo many people got high hopes after doing their LLB, they think getting a training contract and experiance is so easy, I'm being realisitic to say it is not exactly a peice of cake. I just don't see myself practicing it y'know. But on the other hand I looovee Law...So far its my best subject at college & it its the only subject that has proved to be the least bit interesting. Oooh I HATE my college options

Career Advisors @ college are ruuubish & I just wanted decent advise from people that in the same position or whatever...

I am not sure how old you are, seems like you are young.
Assumptions...Assumptions... I'm only joking. Suprisingly I am 18 years of age & currently completing my second year of college :)
UCAS deadlines are hitting soon & I have not the faintest to do.. So that is why I've decided to post this thread. To be thinking in high school about my future career would have been better and i wouldn't be in the mess I was in today but I'm fed up of dwelling over what could've been. I'm in this mess & quite frankly i don't want to make a BIG mistake in my life of wasting years of my pathetic little life doing a course that will have no benefit in terms of my future. I want to make tha right decision & so far its not looking too good. Gosh. Lifes tough.

is it possible for you to go to work for a year or two, until you decide what field really interests you?
I was thinking this, well atleast take a gap year but due to erm certain factors I can't. I'm one of those people that would never be completely sure what I want to do so taking years out won't help. Ahhh

I want to do something like Law/Business/Journalism/Socilogy/Human Resource Management all combined-ish. Undertaking a law degree only limits me to that field of work. But I'm guessing there wont be any combination degree like that...Ah i'm just confused...

Why are you having second doubts? (The course work is boring, the career does not interest you etc).
I haven't actually started. But i will soon in September. Obviously i have to give a confirmation to say that is my final decision VERY soon.
Why second doubts? 'Cause..
1) Have to get training contract with a comercial firm as Br. Muezzin said takess YONKS & its hard stuff. Knwoing me I'd give up *Eyes rolly*
2) Sooo many other subjects have interested me as stated above. I love to help with youth work (like councelling and generally just doing something to help people)...Cause i was planning to take physchology before when i started college. But them dreams kinda hit the floor after I took the subject in college.
3) From family memebers & friends who have completed the degree, they've actually recomended I don't as most have entered fields of teaching/Islamic banking & one i think even in business...!
4) With all the above in consideration, I'm scared I'm gonna make the wrong decision to choose the right course in Uni...just like i did in college. Do I want to risk it..?

Ahh :S:(

Muezzin is quite right. Unless you really want to do law you will find it both difficult and (frankly) boring - the two tend to go together. Being interested in what you study is so important... otherwise three or four years that could be among the best of your life turn into a dispiriting slog for the necessary grades. Or worse, a complete waste of time.

You might be surprised.. most 'business studies' type courses will include elements of most of what you list except the journalism, and you could probably fit that in as an option somewhere. Just had a quick Google and found a 'Business and Journalism' degree (Huddersfield), so that option seems to be there too.

Wow, I only just about managed to understand wat u said sis lol!
I heard that going into law, and to practice it, often means u have to socialize alot, go out with those u work with...etc.. so that u can become a known face, its almost part of the job, menas working crazy hours, especially at the begining, starting early and finishing late. Which being a sister could be difficult? As well as possibly having to mix with lots of guys?
I dont know if all the diffrent sectors of Law are like that but Ive heard a lot of it is.
Anyhow, I hope u make the right choice inshaAllah!

Oh, btw.. how does 'aluw' mean stop?:? totally am not making the connection.
Take care
