Yeah I'll admit the title sucks but it got you reading, right?
Muahahahahaha

Aaaaaaaaaanywo. Ok, so I was in a happy mood and thinking a few days back about friendships. More importantly how did they start.

Looking back on most of mine, they were all really unique and weird. Like one time, I was studying in the library and these two guys come out of absolutely nowhwere. Yet, little did I know that I'd form quite a nice friendship with them (which has carried on all the way to uni!). Note that the point of interest was that I really didn't do anything other than study and talk (I didn't crack a single joke at that time!)

Another case was in Uni. On our induction day, we were all sitting/standing in a room right near the library (it was a meet up for all the students to be shown around the library). Again 2 people who I had never met before were at the same table. We had like a little chit chat (just like a normal greeting thing) Little did I know that in exactly 4 days time all of us were in the same lectures! We were either going to be bitter enemies or friends.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's freakin weird looking back on how friendship initially started. And it's always yielded a positive result....for me atleast! :D

Edit: Any of you guys/gals had similar experiences? Don't need to give the names of the people, just the circumstances is what I'm interested in

I'm glad you've had cool friendships :D

Mostly when you meet in a random place, and you find some random people, usually you'll become friends with them (especially on induction day etc) because you and the person(s) both want to make friends, so you both try and be as nice as possible. Catch my drift?

Edit:

Well, there was this guy in my class and the teacher gave us a fixed seating plan, and the guy I was sitting next to I had never talked to before. As time went by we became stronger and stronger friends.

Yeah I know what you mean bro, it's funny how some friendships start. I made quite a few friends through school/college/uni and friends through friends.

Wow!Im starting college(or is it uni for you guys?) next year Insh'Allah(and none of my friends have picked the program I have chosen..erm..),so I sure hope two random people come introduce themselves to me.hahaha

alright,in all seriousness,as HORRIBLE as it may sound...

I don't remember how I met my closest friends.I mean seriously;sometimes, when im with my friends(and this happens with quite a few different people),I just pause and say"Hey...how did we meet?" then a blank expression appears on my friend's face...followed by a short ponder then the familiar answer"I have no clue".

But my best friend,whom I've known for...12 years?,yes,around 12 years,well,I met her as a kid.This is how it happened:

her mother came over to see my mother(both were friends) and she brought her daughter along.
My best friend" hi."
me:"hi"
*akward*
Me:What game do you want to play?

And that was how a 12 year friendship began.hehehehe.We still joke about it now.:)

See, main reason why I bought this topic up is that we don't usually pay much attention at the first time. Its not like when you first meet up: ''Oh yeah, this dude/dudette is cool and I'm going to be their friend forever''. In most cases it's rather mundane and nothing special (e.g.. Sort of like a fluke shot in snooker except it occurs frequently...which means either we're highly skilled in these moment of randomness or it's an act of God/fate!) - it grows from that initial meeting through our actions, which I completely understand. It's just the first actual time you meet (before you've even said hi)

I just thought it was rather awesome - we take it for granted but it just shows that clearly there are a lot of outside variables (whether you want to call that probability, mathematical anomolies or God is entirely up to you) in our daily lives.

And this is emphasised for my experiences in college where I had to literally make a whole new set of friends - what are the chances that I'd meet up with some of the coolest and most awesome people in my life thus far. Also given the fact that I did little to no socialising (as in, I didn't actively seek any friend out ---- they sort of just fell into my lap as it were. You know, sort of right place, right time and whatnot)

Selam aleykum,

Me and my friends often talk about this when we're out together. It's so much fun, the memories are priceless.

... Once a dude and I ran into each other when both of us were running like crazy into the opposite direction, trying to catch our busses, became a good friend of mine because we had the same classes throughout the year. And our first encounter was very dramatic, as his and mine bag fell down and all books fell, then we missed both our busses and gave each other killing stares. I hated Maths, he loved Maths, we had to sit next to each other and "the war" had begun. :D And this was someone whom I had went to the same school with many years, but never talked to or even noticed.

Yea, fate can be quite funny and weird.

I was in reception class (5 years old....) And this girl was sitting in a corner crying...I was looking at her since she got me curious...I mean why would you wanna cry? Reception is all about sweeties and being the teachers pet :p But then she saw me looking and I smiled at her :D :-[ She hesitantly smiled back...Little did I know...that same kidling would be my 'best friend' for the next 6 years...and then we'd lose contact at the age of 12 and meet again in 6th Form...Kool huh? :D

unfortunately for me there are a few people i regret ever meeting! and think to myself Ya Allah if only those people hadnt come and sat next to me or spoken to me!!! But its Qadr i guess, hence my second signiture fits in well with this thread :)

But there are people ALHAMDULILLAH, who have made my life so much more sweeter even if our correspondances are short lived or are no longer, I remember and pray for them Always.

one of my best friends,............how did we meet :hmm:, she was one of 2 arab twins and i didnt really speak to her until her overprotective friend left the school and gave her some breathing space lol. and we didnt become really good friends until i gave up and left my bad friends for good.

Well I remember my first best friend in kindergarden.
This is what happened:
We were all playing and there was a vase in the class donated by Someone. So I am standing near it and a girl throws it on my side and the teacher for angry and asked who threw it? No one replied. She saw who was near it and she saw it was my friend (not at that time, the girl and Moi(that means "Me" for the pure English people) The teacher might have been gender racist and didn't ask the girl "Did you do it"
It came to me. I was going to admit it but my friend said I did it. The teacher was pleased that someone was honest. But she knew who actually did it she scolded the girl. And told me she was seeing who would be (Yanals) loyal friend.
That is my story of my first friend.
