Tagging

I have recently noticed the tagging function.
Is it new? (Please don't tell me it's been here always, and I've just never noticed it in two years! :-[)

What is the purpose of tags? And how can I use them?

It's been here since the forum was upgraded to 3.7.0. When you do a quick reply, you should see the Tags bar above this box ^^ click on edit tags on the far right >>>> and you can type in what you want (relating to the thread) and click on 'Save Changes'.

But what are tags good for?
Can they help me search for topics?
Or do they link in to others browsing the net through global search engines?

You can search by tags, in the Advanced Search option, on the right hand side.

E.g. Rhymes Tag Search, brings up the rhymes thread because it has a tag saying Rhymes.
