View Full Version : Ban Anonymous

I get confused when more than one “anonymous” contributes to the same thread, especially if it turns out to be a long and involved thread.

I cannot define if the anonymous in one thread with family problems is the same as the one with study problems, or faith problems or girlfriend problems in other threads.

I think this is so important to try and understand the overall complexities of a person when replying to them.

There are millions of anonymous names that can be used of flowers, birds, animals etc. people wishing to remain incognito do not have to disclose the town or country they live in.

So is there any way people can stop calling themselves anonymous, and get an anonymous alias instead.

I would also like to thank all the mods and admin here for making this a friendly and informative forum.

Blessings and peace be with you all

Eric

I agree.. many times anon just gets abused..
I have been reading an onslaught of very inappropriate threads and posts, ranging any where from i's it ok to smoke weed', to is it ok committing white collar fraud to deserving non-muslims...

I don't want to get preachy.. if you feel that it is bad enough that you need to hide your identity from people, don't you feel at all any shame not hiding it from Allah swt who sees you all the time?

Anyhow more important than the anon thing is the ability of newbies to post images.. I am so sick of finding porn here on an Islamic forum, that I recommend to my 8 and 11 year old nieces and nephews.. that feature needs to be disabled until one has at least 5-10 posts.. I really don't think that, that is an unreasonable request.. I know some forums that need 24-48 hours for posts to be approved by a mod.. I know it is important to be nice, but it is also more important to uphold the morals of Islam!

The problem with posting images is that images are posted via ink, so can they actually stop it?

You obviously must have missed it. Unfortunately, not all of us did.

People make a new account and spam the forum with porn, it just happened a few hours ago.

That's sick. I thought mods had banned links to those sort of sites?

The thing is though people can download pics and upload them almost anywhere, such as ImageShack picoodle etc etc, and if were to ban sites like that it would literally mean all pictures. :(

I think that it would be a good idea that members with less than 20 posts can not post links or images at all! Insha'Allah

sorry to go off topic one more time, but if anyone sees porn on here, i've found it works pretty well to see which mods are on and the PM them.
works much better than report bad post.

Greetings and peace be with youSkye Ephémérine;

I don't want to get preachy.. if you feel that it is bad enough that you need to hide your identity from people, don't you feel at all any shame not hiding it from Allah swt who sees you all the time?
The one overwhelming arguement, but it almost means that everyone of us should declare our full names and address.

Thanks for all the comments so far, I did not realise porn had entered this forum, but I am sure it is cleaned up when the mods. hear about it.

Anyway, is there any chance of doing away with the anonymous accounts simply for some clarity for the rest of us.

In the spirit of being unable to hide from God,

Eric

Personally I don't have a problem with the anon account and I find it pretty unlikely that people are posting multiple threads using the anon account...

Greetings and peace to all the anons out there,

Do you have any further comments, is anon really the only way to post?

In the spirit of searching for a peace that surpasses all understanding,

Eric

Sometimes, if you need advice, you post from the anonymous account because otherwise people will judge you...

AnonymousGender is not actually an account. That only comes up when you are posting in the Advice and Support section, and you tick the 'Post an anonymous' box.

anonymous is an account that a person can post from, by signing in with the password as islamicboard.

How about when there's more than one anonymous in a thread, if you're going to post using anonymous too, end each post with a signature, like:

anon R
or anon purple
or sister in need
etc?

If it weren't for Anonymous, then I wouldn't have been able to join the forum and I wouldn't have been able to talk to anybody about becoming Muslim...

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of anonymity? I mean the more you get to know about the poster, the more that you can start figuring out which other handle this person goes by. Also, multiple accounts can become very confusing (imagine a person defending his own post with every other handle making it seems as if 10 people agree with him) and should be prohibited on forums.
Having a special rule were second handles are allowed only for the purpose of anonymity would actually cause more problems instead of solve them IMO.

Oh as for several people posting anonymous in the same thread. I don't even understand why different people would need the anom acount in the same thread! Anonymous accounts are for people who want help but are afraid for some reason. It seems to me the most descent thing is for other members not to reply in that thread with the same anonym acount.

I mean, if you want to reply because you need help to, just start your own thread. For all other purpose, grow some backbone and stand up for your comments that you so desperatly have to make :p
