Assalamu Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuh

This isn't a personal account but one that i read and found interesting and Insha'Allah beneficial..

As salaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu

All praise belongs to Allah and may Allah exalt the mention of Muhammad sallalahu ‘alayhe wasallam, his family and companions and all those who follow him with the proper understanding until the Last Day.

I just wanted to share some of the benefits and reminders from the recent Masjid Rahmah Umrah Trip 2008. It was indeed a blessing to visit the two blessed cities of Makkah and Madinah. Our trip started out by going to Madinah. Its really an amazing environment in those two cities, especially in Madinah because you see all of the women properly dressed and you see the importance that the people have for the salaah. Of course, not all of the people living there give the importance to their religion as it deserves which is why the munaafiqun (hypocrites) will be thrown out of those cities at the time of ‘Esa (Jesus) alayhi salaam.

Its an amazing experience for the believer because the society there is structured to help a person increase in their ‘emaan. You have to be really far from the Deen not to help yourself become a better Muslim while living in those two cities.

So we started out by sitting with Shaykh Muhammad bin Hadee al-Madkhalee. He talked about how Islam protects 5 things. Protection of the Deen itself, protection of ones honor, protection of life, protection of ones wealth and protection of the self (i.e. the individual).

Then we sat with Shaykh Abdullah al-Bukharee. His lecture was about being grateful to Allah for the blessings that we have such as good health. And about the reality of this dunya and hows this time is a time between two times, that which has passed and that which is still to come. Since its not possible to go in the past nor in the future, so we need to do everything in this current time. We rectify that which has passed and that which is still to come in the current time that we live in as well as being firm and obedient to the commands of Allah in this time.

For three straight days, we sat with Shaykh Tarheeb ad-Dosaree who went over the Purification and Salaah of the sick person and how to make tayammum. That class was recorded and the DVD will be made available during the Masjid Rahmah July 4th seminar inshaAllah ta’ala. It was a very practical class that one can implement in their life on an everyday basis. If not for themselves, then for others in their family whom they know are sick and cant pray standing up or cant make wudhu because of surgery or something.

Then we had two sittings with Shaykh Ubayd al-Jaabiree hafidhahullah. One of them was a lecture that he gave on tawheed and the other was a Q+A session.

One night after maghrib, we went to the house of Shaykh Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab al-Aqeel. We prayed ‘isha in his masjid which is right in front of his house. He had invited close to 100 people mashaAllah. The Shaykh gave a nice lecture about how Islaam is a great blessing upon us from Allah and then he had so much food mashaAllah for everyone to eat.

Alhamdulillah, while in Madeenah, I was also able to sit in the regular classes of Shaykh Abdul Muhsin al-Abbad once and Shaykh al-Ghunaymaan two times in the Prophet’s masjid. MashaAllah, Shaykh Abdul Muhsin al-Abbad’s class had so many students. Just looking at that, it makes you happy that this Deen still remains when there are people who are taking from the major scholars of the Sunnah. And that there will always be a group of people who will be firm upon the straight path and they will not be harmed by those who oppose them. And this group of people are no doubt, those who follow the way of the Salaf (first three generations in Islaam).

The last class before leaving to ‘Umrah was with Br. Abdur Rahmaan al-Omaisan who gave us a class on the rites of ‘Umrah. MashaAllah, it was a really nice class. First he talked about the importance of having the correct intention and following the Messenger salalahu ‘alayhe wasallam. After that was established, then he went on how to perform the rites of ‘Umrah.

Then after we arrived in Makkah, we made ‘Umrah alhamdulillah. We ask Allah that He accept from all those who made ‘Umrah and that He writes the reward for it in our scale of good deeds.

The first thing that is quite noticeable in Makkah is that most of the women there dont cover their faces and there is more intermingling that goes on between the men and the women in the Haram. A part of that reason is because its so crowded there.

Another thing which is really sad in the Haram is that many people out of their ignorance, they wish to touch or kiss the Black Stone but in trying to act upon this Sunnah, they harm the Muslims in doing so. So they do something which is haraam (i.e. harming the Muslims) while trying to act upon a Sunnah (i.e. touching or kissing the Black Stone).

And then, you also see the Muslims sticking to the walls of the Ka’bah as if they trying to attain some barakah (blessing) from it. Out of their ignorance, if they believe that sticking to the walls of the Ka’bah will bring them some benefit, then they could be falling into shirk. May Allah protect us from it.

And then you see some Muslims reciting some supplications out so loudly while they are making tawaaf and they don’t know that maybe because of this action of theirs, their ‘Umrah might not be accepted by Allah because this action is not from the Sunnah and we know that for each act of worship to be accepted by Allah, it needs to meet two conditions: Ikhlaas (Sincerity) and ‘Ittiba (Following the Messenger sallalahu ‘alayhe wasallam). We hope that Allah accepts from them but we fear for them because of their going against the Sunnah.

Which reminds me about some of the things which we see while in the Prophet’s masjid. Where the people stand for long time while raising their hands towards the grave of the Prophet sallalahu ‘alayhe wasallam as if they are asking the Prophet directly. If they calling upon the Prophet himself, then they are falling into shirk akbar (major shirk) and even raising the hands towards the grave is an innovation according to Shaykh Ibn Baz rahimahullah because this is something not known from the Sahaabah.

After making the ‘Umrah, the next few days, we sat with Shaykh Waseeullah Abbas, Shaykh Muhammad al-Maalikee and Shaykh Abdul Majeed al-Subayl. We also went to the house of Shaykh Rabee’ bin Hadee al-Madkhalee. He gave us a short lecture on some of the books that are taught in Masjid Rahmah and talked about the importance of learning Kitaab at-Tawheed and trying to memorize it and having a good understanding of it. He also encouraged us to learn this Deen seriously for this Ummah is in dire need of scholars upon the Sunnah to teach the people the Truth.

InshaAllah, all the audio lectures and DVDs will be made available at www.authenticstatements.com and at the upcoming seminar in July hosted by Masjid Rahmah.

It was really sad when we had to leave to come back to the US because we knew that we are leaving a land where the Shari’ah is still established and all praise belongs to Allah for that, and where the scholars are respected, even by the majority of the common folk to a land which is devoid of all good morals and manners as Shaykh Muhammad bin Hadee al-Madkhalee said in his lecture in Madeenah. We were leaving a land where Tawheed is taught to the people and where shirk and the means towards it are totally abolished. A land where the Sunnah is taught and practiced and where bid’ah (innovations in religion) is hated and disliked. A land where the courts rule by the Law of Allah and implement the hudood (prescribed punishments) because of which the people are protected from corruption and evil. And because of this, there is no doubt that this land, may Allah preserve it, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the best land from the lands of the Muslims. It is the truth when it is said that Saudi is a place where the evil is much less than in other places and where the good is much more than in any other place. May Allah preserve the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its rulers and scholars upon the Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad sallalahu ‘alayhe wasallam and keep them away from those who have envy and hatred in their hearts for the good that is found in that land.

I encourage all those who wish to perform ‘Umrah and Hajj to go with Masjid Rahmah because they go each year so their package is really good and nicely priced. Plus you have the benefit of sitting with the scholars. Or to go with Albaseerah when they go in the summer. Currently, they are running the 4th Seminar “Alee bin Abee Talib Seminar” during this summer 2008.

For those of us who dont have the opportunity to sit with the scholars all the time because we live in the West, its really an amazing experience sitting with the scholars because you get to see their manners and how they conduct themselves with the people. And the advice that you get while you are there in person has a stronger effect on your heart than if one was to just listen to their lectures. It also makes you realize that for the people who are not aware of the scholars upon the Sunnah and they hold on to the speakers in the West, by Allah, they don’t know what true knowledge is until they take from the scholars who are firmly grounded upon the correct ‘aqeedah and manhaj. And alhamdulillah, this trip makes one realize why truly, the scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets. Wallahu ‘alam.
