salam, if you break a swear i heard there is a way to get forgiven. Like pay 100 dollars fast 3 days or feed poor people. Now how do feed poor people? Can we give the food to the mosque?? how much cans or food or$$$ should we spend?? how many poor people do we have to feed? please try to answer the food part!! i need to know does it have to be for muslims?? and how many cans or food should i send??

Brother, it says in the Qur'aan;


“God will not take you to task for those of your oaths which you may utter without thought, but He will take you to task for oaths which you have sworn in earnest. The breaking of an oath must be atoned for by the feeding of ten needy persons with more or less the same food as you normally give to your own families, or by clothing them, or by the freeing of one slave. He who cannot afford any of these shall fast three days instead. This shall be the atonement of your oaths when you have sworn [and broken them]. But be mindful of your oaths.” [Table Spread — “Al Ma’idah” 5: 89]

Actually feed 10 needy persons, and if u cannot do that then fast 3 days. Please don't make things up.

It would not be better if you will go to mosque and ask if they could help you with the 10 people :? Even the poor has their pride :-[
