:sl:

Ok well don't be surprised me questionin something islamic again :-[ so plz forgive my so stupid questions. But i noticed knowing more about things i was confused about or rejected (shhh dooont say notin bout that!) pushes me to be a better muslim.

Ook wellll, this one is about imitating kuffar.

"Whoever imitates a nation is one of them!" (Abu Da'oud)

So that mean imitating kuffar is haram?

"Every innovation (in our religion) is mis-guidance, even if the people regard it as something good" (ad-Daarimee.)

So that mean computers are mis guidence?

"We have sent them the Truth, but they indeed practise falsehood" (23:10).

Aw beautiful quran :statisfie.
So that is a lil like the above hadith?

"You must keep to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly-guided Caliphs; cling to it firmly. Beware of newly invented matters, for every new matter is an innovation, and every innovation is misleading." (Bukhari)

Don't you think....oohh i can't believe i sayin dis stuff again.
NO im NOT mocking or anything...buuut...dont you think thats a bit big? Like you can watch lectures on tv, listen to quran on radio, learn islamic things on the computer, but all, the tv, radio, and computers are all "innovations" , so it would be haram to use them? Because its misleading? But you are doing something good on them, still misleading?

And also, when they say haram to immitate kuffars, by what things do they mean? Like some people say even cars are haram because they are innovations and kuffars use them so its immitating kuffars. but CMON.

Please enlighten me wit your LI knowledge :statisfie
Jazakallah khair :)

salam alaikum...
LOL!!!
sister
use your common sense.
ok a kafir drinks cos to them its ok nothing wrong with it.
a believer knows that drink is no good, if they drink they cannot pray and missing salah is bad!!!! VERY BAD!

in most things are good and bad e.g you asked about tv.
i watch islam tv if i watch tv and there is NOTHING wrong with that, i watch disney movies nothing wrong with that too (anyone says there is me is going to go loopey!)
now if i was watching a porn channel then yes big time wrong!!!

so its all a matter of using your common sense.
some people go as further as saying that if you dress likea kuffar like wear a pair of jeans and a top then you are imitating them... wel i do not agree to that personally, cos i am neither pakistani nor arabic they may have their traditional clothes that they were which majority of islamic countries do but we dont so i stick to the kuffar way of dressing if that makes me a kuffar then Allah swt will judge me for that.
As long as i dress modestly like Allah swt has ordered us to do doesnt make a difference what im wearing.

look religion is not something that is hard, Allah swt says that He has made religion easy for us, but i sometimes find that it is us ,mankind who look into things wayyyyyyyyyyy too deep and make religion sound so unbearable.

Yeh but its still TV, dont matter what you watch on it, its an "innovation" and apparently innovations are misleading.

so its all a matter of using your common sense.

Ok so dress modestly, but what if ur clothes are also innovations :statisfie lol

religion is pretty much the hardest thing in life for me. :-[:-[

Do Not Say Nothing About THAT :phew

Ok so what i see from ur answers, innovations aren't always misleading.
Am i way off?
Ok well what about the hadith? Can't reject hadiths eh?
:D
Jazakallah khair dear sis for ur reply :statisfie

Well Sis Truemuslim...we should follow the Quran and Sunnah and we should try to go by ahadeeth as well but what innovation means in these ahadeeth is the arabic version Bid'aah now if you read this hadith properly : "Every innovation (in our religion) is mis-guidance, even if the people regard it as something good" (ad-Daarimee.)

It says IN OUR RELIGION which is innovation or changes in our religion is wrong..as it confuses people ..COmputers are innovation in technology ..it doesn't change anything in Islam ...Bid'ah is something new that is brought or added to the religion and that is wrong because we don't need anything to bring to the religion ..it is already complete now we need to learn how to follow it..slowly

Hope I helped

imitating the kuffar refers to stuff like religion wise and other stuff, for example if you abandon hijaab and start wearin a backward baseball cap. or start celebrating birthdays like xmas, somethin which many people do with the milaad,

theres also a scarier hadiths which says the ummah will follow the kuffar so much, that if they were to go into a lizards den, they will follow them into there, and you see it happenin now, like many muslims do stuff which isnt for us for example drinkin, datin, and all the other nex thins, it haraam to imitate the kuffar so much that we lose our own identity of a muslim, like sayin usin a bus is imitatin the kuffar is ridiculous, because thats public transport, but wearin, or actin or doin stuff that are unknown to muslims or not recommended for them, then thats imitatin them! and it shooooldnt be done

bidaah = is only when you invent somethin into the religion, as the ahadiths of hadhrat Aishaa (ra) says that RasoolAllah (saw) said "he who invents somethin into this matter of ours, it will be rejected" so the matter = religion, deen

like no one can say im drivin a car is that bidaah, because what has that got to do with religion... JACK! Bidaah = stuff that their is no religious evidence for but you still do it as a religious act

also we should accept all hadiths, unless its proven to us that they are dhaeef or munkar, mawdoo etc, and many scholars have like dedicated their time into studyin each hadiths so we know can distinguish which ones are sahih, mutawatir and which ones aint!

diggidy :D

i aint no scholar :-[ but but but

basket ball/ football people shouldnt view it as imitatin the kuffar, because its a sport, we shouldnt refrain from narrowin the hadiths down to such a extent lol, because then people will say wearin shoes or a jacket is imitatin the kuffar lol, and then in the winter we will be freezin :( like i said aslong as we dont lose our identity its woo hoo,

people may have more of a problem with b ball and football because of the clothes that are required, like football some of the shorts are above the knee and thats a no no innay, and for sisters its a big no no, dressin like that, but im sure no one would say, if sisters covered up proper and played with all girlies then thats fine, but like i said i aint no schoolar:statisfie

WELL I COULDNT HELP BUT JOIN THIS LOVELY CONVERSATION OF YOURS
TRUE MUSLIM...:D:D:D

IN A WAY SOULJETTE IS RIGHT.
YOU SHOULD USE YOUR COMMON SENSE AND WHAT YOU LEARN FROM QURAAN AND HADEETH TO FIGURE OUT WHATS RIGHT AND WRONG.

LIKE IF YOU PLAY PLAYSTATION 3 , YOU SHOULDNT PLAY ANYGAME THAT HAS DRINKING SCENES OR SEXUAL SCENES , YOU KNOW THATS HARAM...

IF YOUR WATCHING TV MAKE SURE YOU DONT VIEW ANYTHING RELATED TO INSULTING THE ISLAM AND/OR ANYTHING THAT HAS PEOPLE DOING THE HARAM.

IN SHORT, YOU SHOULD USE WHAT ALLAH (SUBHANNAHU WA T3ALA) GAVE YOU.........YOUR MIND!

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS THREAD
BY THE WAY IM A NEW MEMBER AND UP UNTIL NOW IM ENJOYING THESE FORUMS

I would like that. Technology is evil. Every parent knows that you should never spoil a child, but why do we continue spoiling ourselves with technology? It has the same effect on us. The Romans and Greeks were happy without TV, they had never heard of it and didn't even know it existed, but imagine if it was taken away from us? All that technology does is destroy our environment and take over our lives.

I'm not saying that this is the Islamic ruling on innovation or anything, this is just my personal opinion. But remember this, especially be wary of the internet, where the ignorant are scholars and the wicked are saints...
