:sl:

I am a 19 yr old Indian Pathan. Allah (swt) has gifted me with Asperger syndrome, the same neurobiological condition (it is the mildest form of autism, so mild that it is nearly undiagnosable) many famous people such as Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, and Charles Darwin have been suspected to have. You can read more about it I am 19 years old. I am a former atheist who reverted to Islam a year ago (I was born Muslim, however, many factors lead to me being an atheist which I don't wish to discuss).

My areas of interest circle around religions, history, politics, demography, anthropology, political geography, linguistics, and anything related. I speak fluent English (my family is anglophone), moderate Urdu/Hindi, and basic conversational French. I love watching Anime and Wuxia.

I am currently doing a graduate course (2nd year) on Mass Communication, Political Science, and Linguistics (English, French, Conversational English - mainly regarding the study of the alphabet, dialects, grammatical structure, etc).

I do not consider myself a follower of any Madhab. My Islamic philosophy is based on what I understand from the noble Qur'an and the Sunnah, as well as the teachings of scholars such as Abdullah ibn Ibadh al-Tamimi, Ja'far al-Sadiq, Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Idris al-Shafi'i, and Malik ibn Anas. Although I was born in a Sunni family, I consider myself neither Sunni, nor Shi'a, nor Ibadi. I am a Muslim.

Mashallah, it is great! Prior to this, I belonged to these forums:

Soldat Forums: Age 13 when joined. Gaming forum. Fun for pre-teens.

Boxforums: Astaghfirullah, I regret joining it. It is full of perverts.

WrongPlanet: Forum for those with Asperger syndrome and Autism. It is dominated by Atheists, Agnostics, and Christians who love to bash Islam. I'm considering leaving it, I only joined as I needed help regarding human relations. We Aspies (that's what we call ourselves) are terrible at socialising, maintaining any kind of relationship, doing well in physical activities, and much more, although we are gifted with either a good memorising capability or a talent of some sort. I didn't receive the help I needed.

As far as I see right now, LI is great! I'd love to discuss many intellectual topics here! :sunny:

"Khan" is a title used by Pathans, particularily of the Lodi clan (which I belong to), which means "Leader". What does the Arab word mean? This "Khan" is derived from of Altaic origin, common in languages such as Mongolian, and Turkic languages such as Uyghur, Kazakh, Turkmen, etc. The Pashtuns (Pathans in India) adopted this as a title after the Mongolian Khanate conquest of Afghanistan, and it ended up becoming a common surname with the Lodi Pathans as well as Rajput converts to Islam. It also became a title awarded by Muslim rulers of India who awarded it to individuals for acts of bravery.

For me it is my surname. My full name is (I don't mind revealing it) Minhaj Ahmed Khan.

btw, I made this signature, which I plan to resize now. How do I add a signature? Do I need to wait until I'm a full member? Can I add a custom avatar?

I don't think there's any similarity to the true meaning of Khan in Muslims because Islam made everybody equal. There should never be a hierarchy in Islam.

Yes, that's true. I like my name, however. I don't believe in hierarchy too. When it comes to the caliphate, the most controvertial topic which lead to the Shi'a - Sunni Schism, my view is plain and simple - I don't believe in democracy (sunni view), it consider it a failiure. I don't believe in monarchy (Shi'i view), I consider it a failiure. I believe in appointment. I believe Muhammed (SAW) appointed or recommended Hazrath Ali as the first Caliph, but due to tribal politics, Abu Bakr was elected. I support the Ibadi view when it comes to the Caliphate - it doesn't matter whether the caliph is elected by the shura or inherits the post by lineage, as long as he's a just, righteous, and an able Muslim.

I am very healthy, Alhamdulilah!

I am very nonviolent these days, although I used to be a fighter. In Urdu, we say "Pathan sher ka bacha hein", which means "A pathan is the son of a tiger". It's too easy for me to lose my temper, easier so for my father. His name is Irtiaj, which means "the one who thunders"! XD

Don't worry, as much as I love to discuss controversial topics, I abhor indecent posts and flaming. ^_^

It's like multi-posting the same thing or useless different things, sometimes people do it accidental, but it only counts as flooding when they post the random things in a row, usually it's done to increase post count, or trolls do this to advertise etc.

Ahh yes, Flooding is spamming to the max, here you don't get fines like that, you get infractions, if you get 100% infraction thing you get banned, but like some of them are private infractions some will be on your profile, fortunately infraction can wear out, some are temp but some are deadly permanent ones (serious ones) But am sho you dun needa worry about that,

If you havn't already done so, you might wana read forum rules & FAQ.

You will find several spellings when using the English (Roman) alphabet as the spellings are attempts to get the pronunciation, which can only be found using the Arabic.

Some other common spellings:

Ukhti, Ukh,

Uhktee, Uhk,

Akh, Akhi,

Ahk, Ahkee

We aspies are slightly different, I agree, but we do have many setbacks. While we may have an excellent memorising capability, we do have a bad short term memory at the same time. For example, Albert Einstein would leave his home, then 5 minutes later call up his wife, and ask her what he set out to do. This is very common in all of us. We are terrible at socialising, making eye contact, doing any physical activity, and bonding with people.

We are not clever, nor are you dumb. Allah (swt) has given us all gifts and drawbacks equally. We are just a little better at some things than most people, while others are better than us in everything else.

Of course, irl, others find me very irritating. For example, a sister in my class once told me, "Minhaj, either you don't talk at all, or you don't stop talking when you do open your mouth". We also say anything insulting without realising it, this is a major setback. We lack empathy, although not sympathy. I guess you can say that we are empathy-seeking geeks with hearts of stone. :D

i was going to call u geek:-[, but thought you would be offended, but now that u have acknowledged ur geekiness, welcome geek/nerd :D

you know what minhaj reminds me of, that advert if you ever seen it about minhaj welfare foundation "donate generously to minhaj welfare foundation!!!!" :-[lol.

dont worry akhee we will teach u how to socialise:D, although socialising can sometimes be a headache, so ur prob better off!

Hehe, nobody has called me that irl, apart from a musician who said I'm a "cool geek".

My parents named me after Minhaj al-Qur'an = the way of the Qur'an.

Jazakallah Okhee, but I really don't wish to socialise anymore, at least, not here. Most people I know indulge in haraam activities, regardless of whether they're Kafir or Muslim. You're right, I'm much better off. That's why I regard Asperger syndrome as a gift while others do not. ^___^
