Right now, the two books I have on the Prophet (SAW) are:

Ramadan, Tariq - The Messenger: The Meanings of the Life of Muhammad

and

Lings, Martin - Muhammad: His life based on the earliest sources

I currently wish to buy the following book, and recommend it over the first two:

Ramadan, Tariq - In the Footsteps of the Prophet: Lessons from the Life of Muhammad

Hmmm, an interesting topic Masha'Allaah. I came across this thread earlier which might have some useful hadeeth: http://www.islamicboard.com/hadeeth/...g-extreme.html

Also, look through the Biographies section, there may be some good threads in there. Here's some:

http://www.islamicboard.com/seerah/1...n-muslims.html

http://www.islamicboard.com/seerah/1...ever-kill.html

http://www.islamicboard.com/seerah/1...y-mankind.html

You can also find the book Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtum online, which is all about the seerah... you could check for relevant bits in there, and it would be quoted as a book not an internet site.

May Allaah (swt) help you to write an excellent essay, Aameen.

I would definitely recommend you to buy books on Islamic History or Seerah of Prophet Life by Dar us salam publisher. You can search this bookshop online and see the catalog of all books and other stuff available.
I made a thread on idawah on a similar topic
so if someone updates answers check it
