Abdullah and Bilaal are traveling together. Around noon they stop to eat and pray Zuhr. They've both got some food with them - Abdullah has 5 pizzas and Bilaal has 3. Just as they get the food out they see a 3rd traveller, Talha comes up. They notice that he has no food and so agree to invite him to eat with them. They all eat equal portion of food, and afterwards, Talha gives them 8 gold coins to divide between them, as payment.
They pray Zuhr, then after he leaves, they begin arguing over the division. Bilaal thinks that since they all ate equal amounts he should get half the money, 4 coins for him, and 4 for Abdullah. Abdullah thinks that since he contributed 5 pizzas to the feast, he should get 5 coins, and Bilaal 3. The next village get to is known for the fairness of its qazi. They go to him and after hearing their story he rules that Abdullah should get 7 coins, and
Bilaal 1 coin. Why?
