It is a duty upon every Muslim to have a firm grounding in Islamic knowledge, and Aqida (belief/creed) is the most fundamental aspect of it. An Aqida course was held in London in Summer 2008 under the auspicious guidance of Shaykh Abul Hasan Hussain Ahmed, who explained the points of al-Aqida al-Tahawiyya by the 3rd century Imam, Abu Ja’far al-Tahawi; and it is undoubtedly one of the most widely accepted works dealing with Islamic Beliefs. The Shaykh commentated on the text with relevant evidences from the Qur’an, Sunnah and the sayings of classical scholars; with an outline of some of the various deviant sects that arose and those who departed from Ahl us Sunnah wa’l Jama’ah in their claim to adhere to this very text especially in this age of mass confusion.
About the teacher:
The Shaykh has taken Ijaza (permits of scholarly authorisation) under more than 40 scholars around the world, and more specifically in the Middle East, namely Syria, Jordan, Morocco, Lebanon and also the Hijaz under great scholars like the late Shaykh Hussain Usayran, Shaykh Adib Kallas (Hanafi Aqida specialist in Damascus), Shaykh Abdur Razzaq al-Halabi (A great Qari who has some of the shortest chains back to the 10 recitals of the Qur’an), Shaykh Nadir al-Arkani al-Makki (over 125 years old), Shaykh Muhammad al-Wazzani (over 130 years old - through whom he has some of the shortest chains of Transmission in Hadith), the late female Muhadditha of Morocco, Sayyida Nafisa al-Kattaniyya and many other eminent scholars of this era.
