I have always heard that iskender kebab was the best
Doner kebab served over fried pide bread topped with a fresh tomato sauce and a healthy portion of fresh yogurt.

How can you say you don't care for Turkish food? It's one of the best and most diverse cuisines in the world! But you have to eat at good restaurants in Turkey. No country in the Middle East or north Africa has as diverse a cuisine as Turkish cuisine thanks to Ottoman heritage.

If you like lamb you could have chosen a lamb dish you know.. Also turlu is a mixed grill you would have loved it.

actually it isn't at all your fault.. I just don't have taste buds for it..
it was heavy yogurt with soggy bread and what seemed to be live goat feet feet..
and I was starving I'd have eaten anything at that point.. reminded me of a sheep dish I had in England only with heavy heavy cream all around...
I passed it off to my dad.. I think I'll make me a cup of espresso and have some desert insha'Allah
Jazaka Allah khyran for helping me out..
Taqabal Allah mina wa'minkoum all who have fasted today.. May Allah swt accept your du3a, prayers and sacrifices

what you describe sounds delightful..but I think I'll just have a sharp cup of coffee to drown the taste...
one day we should make a menu thread of things tried and loved and things to be avoided ..
I like your twenty two hundred hour btw very military lol --
Not at an internet cafe, at home in fact dodging my 'Eid' duties whatever they maybe, but it includes amusing the children :D

Oh God.. I am hungry all over again..
I don't really like ethnic food of any sort.. I am finicky and not fun to be around when the majority wants something in particular..
I think my ideal is this
Chaat? for appetizers
or
Mediterranean baby green
followed by
sea food Penne or
veal with spinach preferably throw in a few shrimps
and for desert a sharp espresso or cappuccino
with a
Mille Feuille
ahhhhhhhh--mazing..

Chaat? ;D
Sis come round now I'll whip a chaat up for ya ;D Lo0o0oL that one in the pic looks messy though :p

it is the sort of desert you want to eat alone.. I'd recommend you stay away if you are newly wed and want to impress your husband..
it doesn't usually have choco or strawberry unless you request choco or strawberry Mille-Feuille but it was close enough.. the rest show a "napoleon' which is like a Milleu feuille except they don't use confectionery fine sugar and use the glazed on instead.. stay away from that one since it is made with rum.. that is if you are interested in trying it :D

You were talking about the chaat being messy not the Mille Feuille
Even my new pair of glasses aren't helping..
Yes I know what you mean, it looks bad.. I had it in England and it was yummy.. I tried it here in the US in an indo restaurant and it was bloody awful but it didn't sour me on it.. has exactly what I am looking for in an appetizer..

It is alot like Panna Cotta but tastes soooooooooooooo much better.. especially if you couple if with a sharp drink..
really very agreeable together.. In my humble opinion...
also they tend to have more layers between this custard like cream..hence the name
Mille Feuille (a thousand leaves)

all these desserts seem abit too posh....when i want something sweet after a greasy meal i just compromise and get a cheap 1 pound cake and pour some old custard that’s passed its sell by date
