Firstly I'd like to wish all ym Muslim brothers and sisters a very happy Eid. :)

Ok, now for the serious part...

Can I take Black seed oil for depression? I know it cures every disease except death but I bought it and read the leaflet and it doesn't say anything about depression.

I don't know how much I would need to take, what dose would I need for depression? Please help?

I dont think theres any specific way to use it for different things, the main thing is that theres a cure within it. Thats all.

Like the people said in the link, u can put it in honey and eat it with that. A few drops if its in liquid form, or even a few small pieces if its in powdery form.

I remember when i used to have a cold, we'd put it in hot water, put a towel over our heads, and place our heads over the warm water. So we inhaled the smoke. Then we felt better abit. It might relax your stress too insha Allah.

I don't eat honey at all. I bought a bottle of black seed oil yesterday and it says for 'Mental Ailments' put 7 drops into honey or orange juice or any other drink.

I put 7 drops into a cup of tea last night and drank it. I'm still waiting for the results. I don't know if I'm doing it correctly but I pray InshahAllah this will cure my depression. Please I ask everyone for your Duas.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stated, "Use this black seed regularly, because it has a cure for every disease except death.” (Reported by Bukhari.)

I hear fish oil is good.

Benefits
Some experts[who?] believe that taking fish oil (in any form) can help regulate cholesterol in the body, because fish oil has high levels of omega-3 fatty acids. The regulation occurs through effects of the EPA and DHA constituents on Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα). Besides cholesterol regulation, benefits include anti-inflammatory properties and positive effects on body composition. However, the preferred source of Omega 3 should be from the fish's body, not the liver. The liver and liver products (such as cod liver oil) of fish and many animals (such as seals and whales) contain Omega-3, but also the active form of vitamin A. At high levels, this form of the vitamin can be dangerous. Early explorers to the land of the Inuit were given raw liver by the natives, which contained a toxic overdose of vitamin A for the white explorers; however, the same amount was harmless to the Inuit, who had no other source of Vitamin A except animal livers.

Studies[5][6] were conducted on prisoners in England where the inmates were fed seafood which contains Omega-3 Fatty acids. The higher consumption of these fatty acids corresponded with a drop in the assault rates. Another Finnish study found that prisoners who were convicted of violence had lower levels of omega–3 fatty acids than prisoners convicted of nonviolent offenses. It was suggested that these kinds of fatty acids are responsible for the neuronal growth of the frontal cortex of the brain which, it is further alleged, is the seat of personal behavior.

Recent studies have suggested that fish oil may reduce the risk of depression, and importantly, suicide risk. One such study,[7] took blood samples of 100 suicide-attempt patients and compared the blood samples to those of controls and found that levels of Eicosapentaenoic acid were significantly lower in the washed red blood cells of the suicide-attempt patients.

Xanax is one of those medicines which help in relieving anxiety and depression, but this medicine should only be used for small duration as this is habit forming drug and sometimes the withdrawal symptoms can be more depressing. The withdrawal from this medicine is a slow and gradual process rather than abrupt. Xanax works by slowing down the nervous system and hence relieves anxiety. The best way to get over anxiety and depression is to take a break from your regular schedule, go out, and take good sleep. This helps in clearing the mind and try consulting a specialist who can suggest you as how you can get over your problem. http://www.xanax-effects.com

Is depression a disease ?
I think depression is a psychological problem, not a physical disease.
And these are some tips if you are in depression.

- Look around.
You are not alone. Many people have a same problem or even biger and heavier problem than yours. If you are in depression because you got divorced, you must realize, other people lost his/her family. If you have a problem with your job, you must realize many people are jobless and have no money.

- Stop complaining and start laughing.
Read a joke book, watch a comedy movie.

- Do some activities.
I.e gardening, cooking a new recipe, drawing, clean your house, Make a handycraft, or other activities. Insha Allah, when you do an activity you will get an idea to solve a problem that makes you depressed.

- Sport.
Jogging, walking, bicycling, swiming and another sport are better than drug to makes you relax.

- Give a little help to someone else.
When you are on walk and you see an old lady want to cross the street, help her. Or you can read a book for blindman, help your neighbour cuting a grass, or another little help. Give a little help to someone else can relieving your depression.

- Smile.....:):):)
Someone said " When you smile, the world will smile with you. But when you cry, you will cry alone ".
That's right. When you feel sad then you cry, people maybe will give you an advice and sugestion, but they will not cry together with you. However, when you smile to someone, they will smile to you. Believe me, smile will makes you feel better.

And, as a Muslim, whenever you feel better, don't forget to say "Alhamdulillah".

Salam,
I'm going to tell you what i think and my story.

First you need to clarify your situation .

Are you suffering from common/mild depression ?OR are you suffering from a mental illness depression.

You really need to understand the difference between the two.

If you don't know make a list of your symptoms and GO TO A DOCTOR and take someone you trust.

Then gather as much information as you can from the doctor and other sources(ex. internet, islamic sources etc). What you need is information! And the next step is up to you.

Here is my story.

I have my own experience with severe depression and i mean severe. To be specific what i'm diagnosis with is Bipolar Disorder. Keep in mind there are different types of mental illnesses and depressions. believe me i tried many things for years to get well including black seed, it may work for you but it didn't for me. For years I didn't what was wrong with me.Man the stories I could tell you Even when i went to the doctor it took a while to find the right medication. It was only in November 2008 that i started to lift back into reality. It's 2009 and i believe this started in 2003.

alhamdulillah i'm regaining my mind. So My journey is my journey.

The best advice i could give is that you inform yourself. I think that is what i lacked in the beginning and why it took so long to get well. The more you know the easier it will be to find a solution.

May Allah(swt) bless you, give you good health and strength in your life

W/salam

I know my English is not good. I think depression is frustation, loosing a hope, always sad, want to suicide, etc. But maybe there is another kind of depression.

Sister, I want to apologize if my tips was heard like kidding.
I got many many problems in my life, but I never 'down'. That's because I did something like I wrote in my post.

Sister, I never want to make you angry, and if I make you angry please forgive me. I am really sorry.imsad
