hey guys i just need sum clarification on the issue of illegitimate children not being able to hold certain positions in sharia law like that of a judge. i heard it from somewhere, i immediately thought this must be a cultural practice instead of Islamic just need to make sure

assalamu alaykum

Illegitimate children have the same rights as anyone else and like everyone else are judged according to their own deeds and not the deeds of their parents.

“… He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned…” [al-Baqarah 2:286]

“… no bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another…” [al-An’aam 6:164]
