I'm just a little curious about Mxit/IMing/mig (mobile chat program) and how it affects the Muslim youth of today.

So far I've heard of many terrifying stories which were a result of mxit. But I am also aware it can be used correctly however, isn't the temptation a little great if, say, you are a lonely gal/guy and get an invite from the opposite gender? You may feel wicked and think "why not?" right?
Looking foward to hearing your opinions on this topic...:)

I think it all depends on the person themselves, their self control and also their reason for using these programmes.

Mxit for example is a cost effective way of staying in touch with close friends, and family members such as cousins etc of the same gender. At the same time, if people start using the chat rooms etc, it becomes dangerous, which comes down to self control. And as for people who are lonely, and who might get tempted to chat to strangers on mxit, they should stay as far away from it as possible. Taking into consideration Mxit's addictiveness, its another reason, that it should be avoided.
