Lately I have noticed that Most of the things I did and do Have some hidden desire to be great or really good
at something and earn praise behind them. The thoughts of being great famous, respected etc seem very tempting.
I was thinking about fasting In hope that I may get rid of this desire. Anyone got any ideas how you reduce this?
perhaps a harder life? more prayers and less leisure?

be moderate , i would say. just say to yourself - no one can benefit me except Allah Tallah. so why is that i should be praised in front of others. they cant give me something in return.do the deed and know that Allah knows. He is the most-giving , the most-loving.
