ARABIC MODULE 1

Delivered by Ustadha Shabana*

Dates: Saturday 14th February - 18th April 2009
Times: 11am – 12.30pm
Venue: Froud Centre, Romford Road, Manor Park, London E12 5JF

Course covers:
Introduction to Arabic Language, Arabic in context of other Islamic sciences.
Study skills 1: Memorisation techniques, Alphabets and vocabulary
Grammer: Definition: The Article, Gender, Demonstrative pronouns, Personal pronouns: attached and detached, The possessive case, Prepositions, Adjectives and adjectival sentences, Past tense and conjugation, Memorisation of templates: Af'al Form I past only, Minimum of 20 verbs.
Speaking & Listening: Articulate sounds of Arabic and listen for gist, Introducing oneself, family and close friends, Asking for and giving personal Information , Ask for clarification etc.

*Ustadha Shabana Rashid is an experienced Arabic teacher who studied for two years at the Qasid Institute in Jordan, where she successfully completed the five stage Arabic Language and Literature programme. She also studied Islamic sciences with several scholars, including Shaykh Hussein, Ustadha Hedaya Hartford and Um Sahl from Amman. She is currently an Arabic teacher at the Habiba Institute.


TAJWEED MODULE 2

Dates: Saturday 14th February - 18th April 2009
Times: 10am – 11am
Venue: Froud Centre, Romford Road, Manor Park, London E12 5JF

Course covers:
Level 2 equips the students to recite the Qur’an with many Ahkams that are compulsory as well as memorise parts of the last Juz of the Qur’an. The Madd rules are taught in this module.
Rules of meem sakinah: Idhar, idgham al shafawy, ikhfa iAl shafawi
Madd Tabi’ee, Madd Iwadh, Madd silah sughra, Madd Badhl, Madd Far’ee (caused by hamza) Madd sila kubra, madd muthasil, madd munfasil. Madd Far’ee (caused by sukoon) Madd Aridh li sukoon, Madd leen, Madd laazim
Memorisation: Surah Al Bayyinah to Surah Al Fajr
