I have noticed that when kneeling down during Salaah, people position their feet in different ways.

What is the correct way to position your feet?

JazakAllah Khayr sister but unfortunately that is not what I was looking for. I'm not referring to the Sujood position. Rather, I want to know about how the feet should be arranged during the 'kneeling-down' position.

What's that position called btw?

You mean the ruku? Both feet should be facing forward.
For guys, the feet should be separated (not sure how much, sorry)
For women, according to the hanafi madh-hab, should be together.
In both cases, feet should be facing forward.
Have I helped out at all?

JazakAllah Khayr again but I don't mean the ruku! I mean after Sajda when you kneel down.

Wa 'Alaykum As-salaam.

Yes, that's what I mean! Is that definitely the right way to position our feet? And how do we know?

JazakAllah Khayr.

Yes, I believe that is correct, to sit muftarishan between the Two Sajdahs.

"he would lay his left foot along the ground and sit on it [relaxed]"147, and he ordered "the one who prayed badly" thus, saying to him, When you prostrate, prostrate firmly, then when you rise, sit on your left thigh.148 "He would have his right foot upright"149, and "point its toes towards the qiblah."150 [See diagram - qss]

It seems to be reported in authentic ahadith, whose Isnad is sound. JazakAllah Khayr.

Assalamu alaikum

Alhamdulillah this question was raised.. I asked a friend about it only last week. My problem is that physically I cannot get in my foot in that position no matter how hard I try, think I'm too old :-)!!! So, can we do what is easiest for us?

JazakAllah khayran

Wa'alaikum Assalam

Yes you can do that, inshallah. It wouldn't nullify your prayers.
