Assalumu alaikum all brothers and sisters

5-6 years ago i took out a student loan when i was not a practising muslim, i know this is clearly haram and im repenting every day to Allah(swt).

i want to repay the loan but should i just repay the loan amount minus the interest or should i pay the total amount?

if i pay minus the interest i will still owe money and will be accountable in the hereafter as any money owed is obligatory to repay with intention. but does the issue of interest give me a reason not to pay the interest amount. i know the student loan company will not accept to cancel the interest amount.

may allah reward all those with intention to help
