For some reason they are NOT scary AT ALL...

All the images that probably would have been good were too small. These artsy type images are the only high res pics I could find at the moment.

I also like that dark, spooky climate. Its maybe because I live near a deep forest in a cold country.

This is completely a digression but did you know you can play Sherlock detective on your computer or nintendo DS.. I am so fervently awaiting the release of
The DS game is going to be released in May, I can hardly wait for it, I almost paid more on ebay just to have it sooner.. but even there the seller states he'll send it March 26..

I really like the Nancy drew PC games but I can't wait for this one :embarrass

Those are great, those three are my favorite..I got lost once in Georgia (I didn't have a GPS then) in a place like the second one, except the trees were more willowy with large trunks, I was so awe struck that I wasn't as I should have been scared out of my wits, given the time and that my car was on its last breath..
But now in retrospect those are my happiest moments when you get lost some place amazing.. this and the one time I was driving home and all the fireflies had lit up the trees, it was haunting, peaceful and really nothing short of magical!

That does look quite interesting, I'll give it a try..not sure if I'll get it though. The thrill of reading the Sherlock Holmes stories can't be put into anything else..I even tried to watch the movies once, they weren't great..reading them has quite a distinct satisfaction not found in any other medium.
Reply
You really ought to give it a try, they are incredibly difficult, I had to locate cheating codes a couple of time to solve things to progress in the game..what could be better than reading Sherlock Holmes except for being given the opportunity to be Sherlock?
Yeah I agree though some of the movies were crap, except I really liked the old black and white ones.. some of them were quite good.. the new ones are kind of dry..

'spooky stuff' is an acquired taste.. it is an individual preference..
Like my grandmother for instance (well when she was alive) being a fan of soccer, which I couldn't care less for..

This is gorgeous, but I don't think it's in public domian.. you could probably use it as a desktop though.
You can search for more on deviantart, they've got tons of this sort of stuff, you can even narrow down the categories, to photo manip, photography, etc.

Aaron where do you live? Romania, Hungary, Poland?
This picture reminds me of Finland:
I must say, I do love Finnish nature, although it can annoy sometimes. During winter, it's spooky.
Skye, you remind me of my youngest sister. I'll show these pics to her later one day! I'm missing warm climate, so this is more appealing right now:

;D ;D
I always imagine the perfect murder would take place there, as well light- houses (with spiral staircases) I saw this movie when I was really young about a man suspected of murder by pushing a woman from this lighthouse but as it turns out it was his wife all along, she had schemed to kill this woman by putting poison in an envelope so as the other woman licked it to seal it she ended up well and don't remember the other circumstance but she ended up in the lighthouse and died shortly after and they blamed it on the woman's husband because he was also there at the time.... his wife planned it so to get revenge on him because she thought he had abandoned her for this other woman..
and she almost got away with it if it weren't for the smart detective :'(.. not that you needed to know all that :p

I got sent out to look for something alone...and got lost for a good half hour in pure darkness..it was quite an experience wandering around in the dark hoping I didn't run into anything (or anyone) unexpected or that I didn't take a wrong turn. Sort of fun too now that I think back on it..I found out later that there were other properties close by so chances of being really lost were slim..but still being in a path in dark forest all alone at night..nothing short of spooky (and strangely very tranquil and serene with the sound of the wind moving the tree leaves above you)!
