The Prophet Muhammad said, “Whoever among you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand [by taking action]; if he cannot, then with his tongue [by speaking out]; if he cannot then with his heart [by hating it and feeling that it is wrong[, and that is the weakest of faith.” (Narrated by Muslim)

Get rid of laziness, weakness and lack of concern, for this religion is the religion of resolve, ambition and courage, and it’s call is only harmed by laziness or reckless ignorance.

From arranging a speaker to come to the local masajid, to organizing a large-scale conference, it’s down to YOU!

Participating and actively working for the Ummah and to bring benefit to the Muslims and society is every Muslims responsibility. Each will be questioned on the Day of Judgment according to each individual’s capability.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If Allaah were to guide one man at your hands, that would be better for you than red camels.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3/134; Muslim, 4/1872). “Red camels” are the best kind of camels

Those who are innovative – plan!
Those who are creative – design!
Those who can resource – supply!
Those who can finance - …finance your heart out!
And together – we can make a move.

Be it individually you plan something, or be it by building a team of workers.
If you wish for us to help you – then please do get in touch; be that through us advertising, financing, participating, or even if you have an idea and want us to wholly organize something for you.
All fi-sabeelillah (for the sake of Allah Almighty)
But don’t leave getting active to somebody else!

Act?

Time, money, effort and thought. That’s exactly what’s needed to play a part and benefit the community. Use your time wisely, for remember, we don’t know whether we’ll live long enough to see tomorrow, let alone a few days or years. If you have an idea to do something, get it kick-started asap. And if you don’t have any ideas at all – then sit back and use your time thinking of what YOU could do as an individual to give da’wah, to bring benefit to the Muslims, or to do something good for your Aakhirah. Remember, we’re in need of time, time is not in need of us. It is a blessing bestowed upon us by Allah Almighty, so do something while you have the means. If you have money, use it – you may not always be this wealthy. If you have the means to donate things for people to use and benefit from – lend or donate them. Or perhaps sell some of your things, and give the money you get out of them to charity, or towards somebody’s project. If you have health to actively move and help in events, organizing things – do it and volunteer your services - health is not with us forever.

“Help one another in Al-Birr and Al-Taqwaa (virtue, righteousness and piety)" [al-Maa'idah 5:2]

If you have the ideas and the creativity but no finances – then contact those who can. Sometimes we have to go through hundreds of businesses or people before we find somebody who will give – but don’t feel let down, Allah Assists those who strive in His Path.

How many people reach old age, look back at their life and realize they wasted so many years of their life? So it’s your duty, your time, your mission to do what you can before Allah sees somebody more worthy of it and gives what you have, to him, because he desires and yearns to use it in the Path of Allah.

People spend hours on sports activities or training at the gym for their body – it’s something enjoyable for them. Similarly, those who desire for a place in Paradise, will work hard and spend hours on projects for the Sake of Islaam for their reward in the Aakhirah, and this effort will bring joy to their hearts.

Intention/Sincerity
Intention and sincerity is first and foremost in being active. If you intend to arrange something for respect, fame, or honour – stop. Allah Almighty knows what is in your heart, and he knows your intentions. Thus you will only achieve what you intended. Allah Almighty says in the Quran,

”And to your Lord (Alone) turn (all your) intentions and hopes.” (Al-Inshiraah 94:8)
Similarly the Prophet Muhammad said,
”Allah does not accept any deed except that which is done only for Him and to seek His Countenance.”
(Narrated by Al-Nasa’I, 3140)

But do not let Shaytaan stop you from doing good deeds by putting in your heart doubt of whether your actions are for the sake of Allah or not. Act, and put your trust in Allah and hope with Him Alone that your actions are pure and accepted by Him.

Erm, hang on!

Don’t just ‘get active!’ Make sure it is in accordance with the Qur’an and Sunnah, and if possible, get the opinions of various scholars and ‘aalims before making a move. For surely they can advise you with the knowledge they have about which method is the best, and Allah is your Witness for striving to do that which is right. Many a time we have people raising money for charities through fashion shows from which boom loud music; ‘melas’ (fairs) take place where singers are invited to ‘sing for charity’ and people pay 20 pounds for a ticket; mixed sex fairs are organized where brothers and sisters mix freely, and it is all done in the name of Islaam. SubhanAllah. There are always alternatives, and by going that extra mile, we can make activities/events segregated to avoid unnecessary free mixing, and we have hundreds of ways to raise money other than by having a music mela and its like.

Spread the Word
Don’t just think of advertising through word of mouth thinking people will somehow hear of it! Although one of the best ways, use other means, by which more people can benefit, and all the more reward is written in your Book of Deeds; Announce it in ALL the masajids, advertise it on the internet, send mass emails, send mass text messages, make posters – just one or two if your costs are limited, and stick them up in a public place where people are likely to see them. If you have more funds available, then how about contacting the local non-Muslim newspaper to advertise? And now alhamdulillah we also have the option of The Muslim Weekly and Islamic Times. If you’ve got LOADS of funds, contact a Muslim TV channel to advertise!

A great idea is to get people actively involved in the project/event, so that they have more interest in it, they will be more sincere when telling others to advertise it. It doesn’t mean you only involve those in the masajid – get those who don’t, to do! Maybe then Allah will place love in their hearts for you, for Allah, and for His Deen. You may easily be the means of somebody returning to Allah swt.

But however you choose and the more you do, you’ll see it’ll all be worth it when you look back at what you did on the Day of Judgment.
Use the resources and options you have, and use them to the best of your ability.

Not reaping results?
Are people not interested in what you’re trying to do or tell them? Are people lacking interest?

Sabr. People may not care about your efforts, but remember, they’re just in need of somebody ‘opening the door’ for them to that particular issue. Even if one person benefits – that’s all that matters. You do something small today, tomorrow you’ll see everyone doing it on a large scale.

Have patience and go that extra mile, for you are doing a great act of worship that was the mission of the Prophets and Messengers and those who follow in their footsteps. And they had to wait years before what they did was accepted.

”And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine.”
(al-Talaaq 65:2-3)
